Adding new abilities to controller such as spontaneous weapon shooting and different camera effects.
Description
Adding 4 new abilities to controller. The closer you are to controller the scarier the effects:
- Weapon shooting: makes your weapon to shoot uncontrollably for a brief duration.
- Camera shaking: camera's drunk effect.
- Focus loss: camera twitch when zoomed in and focusing controller.
- Hallucination: just some occasional random pictures and sounds.
Now it's super annoying to be close to him and to a lesser extent try to snipe him down from distance.
Highly suggested to use with Arszi's controller and tweak all of his variables to enormous value for maximum hardcore gaming fun ;]
I'm lazy to write it again or add MCM (maybe later), but it's still kinda customizable, find this at the top:

Should be compatible with everything, safe to install/uninstall whenever you want.
If you have any suggestions for other controller abilities or even abilities for other mutants, feel free to let me know ;]

- Added some pictures and sounds that randomly appear on your screen as NOMADs_Reviews suggested. You can easily disable it, change chance (by distance) or make cooldown bigger if you find it too cringy xd

edit: make it get u blind for a brief time and hearing some fake mutant sounds. Nothing scares me more than hearing stuff and not being able to see it

idk tbh, but deffo one of my worst fears. I had one of the Iron man runs end like that bc my screen decided that it didnt want me to see. So I got my feet eaten by rodents iirc.

I agree with the mutant sounds but blindness? Damn man that's like a "Hurt me plenty" difficulty

Would it be possible to make this so that if your psy protection is above a certain level, then you become immune to these effects? So that this increases the value of investing in a high enough psy protection.
I thought about psi resist, in my opinion it's better to keep distance to controller as the only factor. First it's quite hard to balance out, second there are many popular addons that add outfits/artefacts with ridiculous psi resists and I have no interest in making balance patches for each one of them.
I think psi resist protecting only psi health is more than enough.

Awesome mod! I always thought it would be cool if the Controller made all contacts identify as hostile for a short time.
How about making companions appear to be hostile NPCs and having them shoot at you because you look like a hostile to them?
More screen disorientation effects, auditory and visual hallucinations. Makes you see disturbing images flashing up on screen like in this: Youtu.be

Yeah, Arszi controller already does last two and it also makes companions hostile.

In the game the NPCs can easily take down the controllers, a rookie can kill a controller with a couple of melee hits, from these scenes it seems that the controllers are not the threat that the lore mentions, mutants that can easily take down veteran stalkers .
I don't know if it's too big a request but can you give the controllers a ranged attack against the NPCs? something not flashy but devastating so that it is really the controller who has the advantage.
there is an addon that already overhaul controllers, Arszi controller, and with this could be more fun :D
Yes, this is why I suggest to use it with Arszi controller ;]
It makes controllers very hard to kill for NPCs.
prob could add
- 1 or 1.5 sec blind if you are too close to controller
- quimera jump sound (xD) or lurkers
- children singing around
I can try to make tunnel vision with sounds instead of blindness.
Update: actually I can't make tunnel vision with PPE, it needs either to draw HUD like masks or shaders, sorry ;[ I will try to add some random pictures with sounds instead.

Is there a way too set a "cooldown" on the controller's flinch? I really like it but after testing it makes it almost impossible to shoot one from any distance. Some range option or 1-2 sec cooldown would be nice.
Hm, I was able to kill him from like 150 meters, takes more ammo tho and that was the intention ;]
There is a line "twitch_tmr = tg + twitch_anm_cooldown * 100", you can change 100 to 200 to make cooldown twice as long or more. I thought adding option for it would remove all the fun, will reconsider.
RG-6 grenade launcher shoots randomly but the projectiles don't spawn nor explode. Underbarrel grenade launchers don't shoot randomly. Grenades don't get thrown randomly. Melee and RPG work fine, they swing/shoot randomly. Might want to look into some other weapons but this is what I found.

Sure,
1) find the path and drop your dds there:
gamedata/textures/ui/controller_effectx/
2) then add their lines in:
gamedata/configs/ui/ui_controller_effect_16.xml
dds must be 1024x768 and field <texture> must have path and name of this dds.
3) xml names like "cont_tanks" and others must be then added to script's table "local static_names_t" at line 145 (or you can just replace <texture>'s path and name under existing "cont_tanks" (and others) for your dds)
I like the originals ones, but that make me even more curious of what you would change/add so... don't hesitate to share your own modifications with us :)
Since this addon, controllers became my most feared mutants in the game.

When a controller makes you shoot, a crash happens when using Modular Ballistics Framework.
LUA error: ...ker anomaly\gamedata\scripts\arti_enhanced_recoil.script:79: attempt to perform arithmetic on a nil value
This is the line the error happens on:
recoil_base = recoil_base * ballistics_utils.get_recoil(obj:id())
Apparently, the second value is nil, which retrieves a number from a table in ballistics_utils.script. The table's values for the equipped weapon are inserted when actor_on_weapon_before_fire is called. It is possible to prevent this crash by shooting once before a controller makes you shoot so that the values are inserted.
So I guess that wpn:switch_state(5) doesn't trigger the actor_on_weapon_before_fire callback? Not sure which addon is supposed to fix this, though.
Isn't modular ballistics for 1.5.2 only? Because I didn't test controller addon on 1.5.2
It has a 1.5.1 patch and I've encountered the bug on 1.5.1 too.

where do you get your dds image files from? i tried converting some images into dds files and then putting them into the mod files while renaming some of the images but it just seems to crash my game
Try different compression method (bc3 will surely work). I don't really remember which one I used.
Would it work with the add on that makes you shoot yourself when you're very close to Controller?
