Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.
First shown to the public during the May 9 victory parade of 2026 amidst growing opposition against the incumbent President, the now famous Sentinel started out as the ugly duckling of the Russian Army which regarded the new tank as an overpriced, overengineered outgrowth of the Armata programme, armed with a dual 160mm cannon to rival the Chinese ZTZ200 Overlord on the export market. Due to its perceived incompatibility with the established Russian armour doctrine, the new tank was derisively designated as the HT-28, with the Cyrillic acronym HT standing for 'novyy tank' or 'novelty tank'. After the downfall of the corrupt regime in 2028, the Sentinel was redesigned from scratch but retained its original designation as a symbol of transition between the old and the new Russia. The HT-28M1 was equipped with a sturdy, heavily motorised chassis and its signature 220mm cannon, which turned the vehicle into a distinct mix between a tank destroyer and an assault gun. The M1 model was well received during its service in the Caucasus, Eastern Europe and Africa and became the baseline for all future modifications: The improved M2 variant which entered service just prior to the outbreak of the Russo-European War and the most recent M3 variant, which is the final production model of a unique prototype version that was field tested by the famous 'Black Bears' - the single most successful tank crew of the entire war - whose legacy lives on with this proud war machine. Most noticeably, the HT-28M3 sports a pair of bulldozer blades, an improved cannon and a more streamlined appearance. During the ECA's return to Russian-occupied Belgium in December 2048, the new Sentinel distinguished itself in the climactic battle of Liege, where an outnumbered contingent of Russians defended a vital salient against a combined force of the 1st Panzerdivision, the Royal Dragoon Guards and the 7e Brigade Blindée for eight days in a massive mechanised confrontation that was later dubbed 'the Belgia
:O (drools rainbows)
OMG
Words cannot describe the awesomeness :O
desc cuts out in the climax of the story.
That looks dangerous...can I have one?
my 7 year old laptop with its amazing GPU is going to love this.
no wait, no it won't (dr. thrax laugh)
Mother of Tank!
i had to compare this with the old one side by side and its an awesome improvement
Media.moddb.com
good job guys
I iz speechless
+1 LIKE
whats the visual difference between this one and the ERA version apart from the tech structure on top? nice work on the slanted armor effect on the front, looks like it could deflect a ballistic missile with ease, is there a 'specification' for this tank? such as armor plate density?
if not no worries,
regards, bt
The ERA version has reactive armour tiles attached to the chassis. The upgrade itself increases the tank's protection against most impact weapons like missiles and shells.
So awesome. :D
is the front pair of threads held by magic or power of Mother Russia? :D
I'm guessing the sides of the hull just under the glacis plate.
obviously there is nothing to support the front roadwheels, and thus - the threads simply fly in air.
[Giorgio Tsoukalos mode on]: OMG, Ancient Aliens sit inside this tank!
Internal structure, maybe?
I'm guessing there's actually a pair of treads for each of the front nacelles, with an engine (or something) in between...
Nah, IT'S THE POWER OF MOTHER RUSSIA!
They have Hydraulic steering Universal-joints or also known as trunion-couplings. This would make an extremelly heavy tank to turn with more ease and in theory avoid sinkings in soft grounds. Theoretically, it can be done in real life, but these sections need to be heavily armored with "accordion" like platings to avoid a joint dislocation from Anti-tank rounds.
They're held by Magic of Mother Russia.
It always looked extremely weird to me, but I somehow managed to live with it :)
I Have the Final Say!
-Sentinel Tank.
Now that I look at this...the previous versions just look ******* ugly.
It LOOKS Russian, let alone is Russian. Well done devs, Mission Accomplished.
Looks Monstrosity
The new one and the old one are just incomparable. Fantastic redesign.
Its awesomeness cannot be described by words
brain explodes
* brain implodes *
*explodes on contact with 220mm shell*
This is the day of the JUDGEMENT!!!
By the gods! What a beauty!!!!
Russians...
up-sized T-80!!...
:D...
Don't see any 80 in that T.
yeah...
was just stating what i think it looks like...
now i can plow infantry and light vehicles swiftly with this baby haha!
So ******* Sexy!
Waaaay too badass!!
Level of awesomeness and badassery is off the scale...
And, well, old Sentinel looked way too "skinny"... this model is better.
Took the words from my mouth
This really is a massive improvement over the previous model. I don't like using the Sentinel (because it's SLOW) buf that is one beautiful monstrosity of a tank *sniff*
Now it looks as it should look for looong ago!
now we are talking motherf***er....
why not make the paladin tank almost as heavy?? : B
Armageddon is DEFINITELY here! Can't wait to see retextures for the Russian Airforce.
it seems lately projects use the generals engine have a lot of improvement stuff going one, make me wonder how much you can really stretch the engine capabilities...
can anyone tell me in average, that how many polygon can a vehicle has, and what is the texture size limit??
its a shame that general does not support normal mapping, otherwise this super tank would look even more awesome and menacing!!
Unbelievable work, guys. This has gone a long way since the first model, in terms of the graphics. I would like to express my enthusiasm for this fully, but unfortunately, I do not have an Il-76 to borrow from which I was gonna airdrop you guys a BMD-sized and shaped wad of cash (which I also do not readily have), with a note attached, asking you to take all my money. But I don't have that much money to start with (not even sure my country has that much in circulation :P), so... :|
Anyway, keep it up, guys. :D
i guess i need to "TANK" you for that one XD
hey guys
I have got an littel Question
