Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.
Despite their work being the stuff of legends among GLA sympathisers around the world, the names of the original creators of the Marauder self-propelled assault gun will most likely remain a historical mystery. All that is known is that a group of five Middle Eastern revolutionaries released a viral video on the internet in the late 2010s in which they provided a literal step-by-step 'tutorial' on how to build a crude armoured fighting vehicle using off-the-shelf tools, metal scraps and a truck engine. Most preposterously, the guide suggested that an externally mounted camera connected to a consumer-grade television and a re-wired videogame pad could be used to monitor the vehicle's surroundings and help control its movement. This raw ingenuity did not go unnoticed by the Global Liberation Army, whose followers in Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa soon followed their example and proceeded to build their own 'tanks' to engage Chinese and American forces head-on, with faith, courage and craftiness making up for a lack of modern machinery. Indeed, the life of a GLA tanker has been a dangerous one ever since the start of the Global War On Terror but those who managed to survive throughout the decades have become hardened veterans and their heavily customised Marauder tanks are a testament of this experience. Armed with a powerful 130mm gun howitzer and protected by a variety of armour scraps cobbled together from foreign tanks of various ages and nationalities, the Marauder remains the most lethal ground combat vehicle in the arsenal of Warlord Anwar Sulaymaan and should never be underestimated. By the early 2040s, many Marauder crews had figured out how to equip their vehicles with fully rotating turrets without deminishing their engine power during a forward charge, thus finally turning their Marauders into actual tanks at long last.

Indeed, that video served as the inspiration for the description. The Marauder is basically this thing turned up to eleven. Definitely not the weirdest thing in the setting I'd say.
Is it still upgrade-able with salvage?
Of course it could be upgraded with salvage you dummy what i really like is it has now a rotating turret now.

GLA only get new look whithaut any proper improvement. Becouse they think that GLA dont need more tech and upgrades.

what in the world are you talking about? The GLA have gotten tons of new units. as far as the t-55 they most likely did not pick it because it would look to much like the Chinese tank. As they do have anti-tank units.

You do realise that we can't work on absolutely bloody everything at the same time, right? When you're working with a small core team of less than a dozen people on your free time, you gotta set priorities during development, or you won't be able to get anything done. China's content for the next version has been completed, which is why we already showed it. The US, Russia and the ECA are also close to completion in our internal versions but the GLA will get plenty of new stuff in 1.85 as well, including the Recycler Truck which pretty much introduces an entirely new GAME MECHANIC for them which involves reverse engineering tech from enemy factions and incorporating it into GLA units. Thing is, we still have to actually IMPLEMENT that in order to SHOW it, whether in an update or a future livestream.
As for the T-55, it was never given to the GLA because it looks generic and no-frills as hell. Unlike the other factions, the GLA is -not- a state entity; it has no industrial power in the conventional sense, so it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense for them to have a vast arsenal of outdated but military-grade weapons, not to mention the fact that a faction's MBT should fit the character of the faction rather than being some generic ex-Soviet leftover simply because those are common in Arab militaries.
So now we know the progress of 1.85. That's nice. :D
As I read in your RotrWiki it seems the Cheetah and Recycler Truck will be new to GLA
So GLA will have three main battle tanks i.e. Scorpion, Cheetah and Marauder. That's nice. :)
The Marauder is not a main battle tank it is a heavy tank on par with the paladin.
