Could the planets by any chance be enlarged to realistic sizes like the ones in EAW:RE?

There will be some maps where the fighting takes place at low orbit, if that's what you mean. "Realistic sizes" is really not the right phrase to use though as size is really just relative to the distance from said planet.

Dope. Are you planning on adding atmospheric maps like Bespin in FOC, or omitting them entirely?

I will probably add them for skirmish on planets like Bespin and I thought having one over the Coruscant cityscape would be cool. That one may prove to eat up too many resources though. All those building could kill a PC. Haha

I think he means that I sized them up to this amount and put them on the furthest edge of the map where it wouldn't clip behind the galaxy model: Moddb.com It looks as good as you can make planets look good in EaW, I highly recommend it. It looks way better than these dumb as **** spheres.

It's basically the top 20% of a sphere model with the planet texture put straight onto it using the plain moddifier in max. I did stretch the edges a bit in the uv panel while selecting the outer vertexes, that way it doesn't stretch the texture on the actual model. Then export to alo and put it on the furthest edge of the map in the map editor. Careful with the placement though, when it is actually put there you can still alter the angles as long as you have it selected, but afterwards you can't select it again since the map boundaries don't go far enough for the camera to be able to get close enough to them select the planet prop.

Yeah, just a closer orbit then, essentially. It does indeed look good and I do indeed have plans quite like that ;)

Glad to hear that, please don't waste your time doing what I did, experimenting with every possible way of building maps with planets, from textures to every sort of model, box to sphere to half sphere to eventually partial sphere to attemt to figure out the way of building the most realistic maps possible just to find the way to actually build them. People before you have spend their time doing these experiments and you need only look at their results to achieve the best way possible. Which, in my mind and several others happens to be the way I concluded on, the method that I just explained.

Best of luck Farseer, I know you put great value upon being able to create content for yourself instead of relying upon others to make said content, but don't make the mistake of thinking others have not spent an obscene amount of time trying to create the best possible, to the point where you do not have to search for the answers yourself anymore, to create said best possible. Obviously, if you can find a better way I'd happily hear it, and read about it, but I'm not sure if such a thing would be worth the time searching for. Because I assure you I've spent that time trying to find the absolute best. Whatever way you decide to settle upon, I'll be monitoring your progress with great interest. Praising you every step of the way since you appear to the one of the very few who actually put as much effort into your content as I used to, and providing friendly critizism where I think it could be helpful. In the most helpfull way I can, of course, I will try, the best of luck to you. Do keep creating, seeing works of art to the quality you manage to produce, with such care like I used to put into my models as well is one of the few good things in life, and prove there are people out there who actually care about true quality. I had to stop doing it because my newly started university year swallowed all of my free time, but being able to occasionally see new art, of this quality, on your page, has been good to my mental health. Knowing there are others who dare to put the time in to create the details required to produce real masterpieces. Or simpely manage to create such masterpieces in a timely fashion, unlike me who need to put rediculous amounts of hours into a model to build it to perfection, even that, does me a lot of good. Keep doing your best, and it'll not only be you who has a good feeling when looking upon such content when looking at it. Enough rambling. Good work.

University has a way of eating up all of a person's free time... I'm glad that I can provide some kind of modding outlet for you though and I truly appreciate the interaction we have here. Even if we're just "rambling" about lore or modding techniques, the discourse is always welcome and is often insightful. Even though I work on this mod by myself, it wouldn't be what it is without collaboration and brainstorming with several folks in this community. That combined brain power and creativity has propelled RotM to heights it would have never reached otherwise and I'm indescribably grateful for that.

Description

When one thinks of starships and of the infamous Imperial Star Destroyer, one should also think of Kuat. Boasting one of the largest starship manufacturing facilities in the galaxy, which is owned by the equally impressive Kuat Drive Yards corporation, Kuat has long been the supplier of the Galactic Empire's starships, ranging from corvettes to the largest of capital ships.

The Kuati people live in a very distinct class system that is controlled by various houses, all vying for rights to the orbiting shipyards. It is not unheard of for members of houses to be assassinated, falsely incriminated, held for ransom, or otherwise placed in harm's way in the name of these power struggles.

Controlling Kuat in-game will grant a notable reduction in build time for all capital-class ships.

*Over the next week, I will be releasing improved planet models interspersed with any regular updates that may come out. Stay tuned for these as there will be several!
