I am going to take a wild guess and say it has something to do with credits.

that was my thought, too, but it'd certainly be neat if Farseer had something else in mind!

Since this is the "homeworld" of the New Republic, it will be a victory condition. It's like the King in chess...Doesn't do much but is the most important piece. Mandalore and Bastion will be the Mandalorian and Remnant counterparts respectively.

Fun fact: Children on Coruscant are that taught a version of "Dha Werda Verda".

Hopefully once the mod is out we can teach them the correct version, if you know what I mean.

Description

Coruscant is the center of politics, economy, and culture for most of the galaxy and has been for millennia. The planet-spanning city known as "Galactic City" is many stories high and is so expansive that the crust of the planet is not visible from any point either in orbit or from the air. In fact, the only natural features still exposed to atmosphere are the polar ice caps, which provide a source of water for the gigantic population of the planet.

What is much less well known is that in long ancient millennia, Coruscant was inhabited by two species called the Taung and the Zhell. So little is known of these times that the evidence is not substantieted but it is generally believed that the Zhell are the ancestors of modern humans in the galaxy. The Taung and Zhell fought a centuries-spanning war the eventually resulted in the expulsion of the Taung from Coruscant. The Zhell would continue to evolve and would turn their homeworld into the center of their culture as they spread across the stars.

Meanwhile, the Taung would eventually relocate to another planet in the outer rim that would come to be known as Mandalore. The Taung were driven to extinction during the ancient Mandalorian Wars, at which time their legacy would be carried on by a variety of species who saw the Taung's warrior culture as honorable and respectable.

Because of it's significance, Coruscant has seen its share of attempted (and many times successful) invasions and is generally a very contested world.
