R.E.A.R.M. - "Rearmament Expansion And Redesign Mod" is an unofficial Homeworld 2 expansion and it adds number of new interesting and various units.
Hyperspace beacon is done. I don't know how many people knew that it's going to be animated, but now you can see why it looks this way.
That'S some cool ****. But what does it do?
This small one, just call in (build) some ships. The middle one (platform size) will do the same plus will serve as the hyperspace gate. And the large one (a small station size) will have a built-in hyperspace module.
Hey its that odd probe from the alpha.
If you're asking if this is the another probe which could be build in the latest release (450 RU, down in the menu), then yes. It's supposed to be called a Hyperspace beacon.
That is cool, animations are a great part of HW2.
I like this probe, it's got great character.
It's also pretty close to what I was imagining back when we were discussing these things,
yet better.
I've been meaning to ask, what has a greater impact on Lag?; animations or just too many 'large' (hi-poly) objects?
Glad you like it, it would be bad if it didn't, because this is basically your toy.
And I honestly have no idea what causes lags, my PC is built to play ArmA 2 and render 3D animations and I don't have many chances to play online, so I don't remember any lags in HW2. But it's not about polygons, you can have a lot of polygons today (I'm keepeng them low just to fit into the HW2 standards and because it's easier), I guess the large textures would have bigger impact on your system. I've also heard that a lot of debris causes lags and a lot of selectable or buildable turrets subsystems cause desynch.
Haha, I like it a lot :D
Hm, yeah the only few times I have had any lag with HW2 were with custom maps with way too many asteroids etc.
So you don't think adding more animations to the game is really much of an optimization issue?
I'm not concerned, just curious.
Thats really awesome!
looks lovely
Hyperspace bacon, yum!
This has been nagging me for a while and I finally got it down. This thing reminds me of a seahorse! I know, I'm wierd. Still, the design is really great.
It kinda does look like the seahorse.
ahh the good old days of animated probes
