How big is this, relative to the Venator? What's its role?

To my understanding, the Legacy class is a fan-made ship and is considered to be a frontline battleship. Unlike the Venator it is not a multipurpose Star Destroyer, it is purely meant to serve as a battleship and not a carrier/battleship like the Venator.

Here is one of the official Star Wars wiki fan-sites that describe the ship and its role. This fanon ship is very popular in Empire at War I see it used a lot by both the Galactic Empire and the Galactic Republic.

I plan to set the legacy around 1.4-1.6 KMs long.

As for role, that requires a little bit of an explanation on the overall plan. So the Venator itself is a little weird, and originally the ship was going to be a top tier warship. But I decided to change that when I swapped to time period based tech levels.

So:
Tech 1 - AotC
Tech 2 - TCW seasons 1, and 2
Tech 3 - TCW season 3
Tech 4 - TCW seasons 4, 5, and 6
Tech 5 - RotS

With various EU things mixed in, like the Muunilinst 10.

Now with that in mind, having the Venator as a tech 4/5 capital ship won't really work seeing as the Venator is seen in TCW season 1.

So I put the Venator at tech 2, what does that leave me to grow the roster with? This is where the Legacy, and eventually the Valiant once it's finished, come in.

The Venator-class is mainly regarded as a battle-carrier, or a mix between a battleship and a fighter carrier. A jack of two, master of none if you will. The Legacy will specialize in the battleship branch, while the Valiant will focus on transporting large amounts of fighters into battle.

Or TLDR: It's a battleship to shoot other big ships.

This ship has interesting design. Only ISD-I is better armd and armour I suppose.

The Legacy-class is indeed a fanon design and strictly spoken it is canon-wise superfluous as the Imperator/ISD-I class takes up the exact same role.

The Legacy-class is often used in Star Wars mods where both the Empire and the Republic are present to give the Republic roster more diversity compared to the Empire.

The Legacy is roughly equal in power with the ISD yet has fewer Ion Cannons and slightly less formidable armor.
It is still supposed to be the to-go heavy hitter for the Republic, getting thrown in when Venators and Victory I SDs can't get the job done.

The Valiant-class on the other hand has often different specs depending on how each mod wants to use it.
Some mods use it as a sort of "Venator-II" with beefed up armor and increased weaponry (The nine main battery turrets the Valiant has are supposed to be the same type the Venator has, but a newer and stronger model) while others delegate it to be a full dedicated carrier instead of the destroyer/carrier hybrid the Venator embodies.

Interesting tech system, which I find rather agreeable.

So, Republic ships of the line go
>Acclamator
>Venator
>Valiant
>Legacy
>Imperator
?

I wouldn't really call it a linear progression like that. Each ship has some different purpose, while some overlap slightly.

In the case of that small list:
The Acclamator is a more or less a torpedo frigate, with flak guns.

The Venator is a carrier, with a sizable main battery.

The Valiant is a carrier, with heavy armor.

The Legacy is a battleship, with a large amount of turbolaser and laser cannon emplacements.

Imperator is a mix between the Legacy's armament, and the Valiant's armor. This is really the only one I'd call a direct upgrade, and even then it'll have a cap to how many can be built.

I would do a at with the large sensor dishes... Just looks very wonky, and is not reflected in any other similar sized ships. Makes it seem much smaller than it is.

Maybe, but that is one of the more recognizable features of the original. Plus the updated hull plating provides a different feeling towards the scale.

Any chances of adding the 'Mandalorian Tier 5 Battleship: Veragitor-Class'. It's so similar to the Venator-class, it's like a variant with battle purpose.

The Veragitor-class is Star Dreadnought category though, at least two if not three levels above both the Legacy and the ISD.

I know the Clone Wars-mod uses it as the "Republic Battleship" and that role fits but I dunno if it would still fit in the roster in this mod when big ships like the Praetor I, Rothana Battlecruiser and the Mandator II are already present.

Description

Pretty productive weekend if I do say so myself. Made some nice progress on projects for other people, and got a ship edited and textured in a few hours. Hopefully I can finally finish those other projects so I can stop holding other people up though.

Edit: Quick update to the plating scale Cdn.discordapp.com
