This is a HD compilation of levels running under Quakespasm-spiked including: (a) The levels from Arcane Dimensions 1.8 which were not present in 1.7 (b) The Forgotten Sepulcher, which was not present in the HD Epsilon release of Arcane Dimensions 1.7 and (c) Several third-party Arcane Dimensions levels which are not part of the official release. The latter includes Annihilith of Abhorration, Tomb of Fenrir, The Refinery and "The faults within" (a remake of quake's e3m2 "The Vaults of Zin") (d) My 2-hour dark-ambient/metal/industrial soundtrack.

More Dimensions is running under the Quakespasm-spiked engine because the older versions of the Darkplaces engine do not support the 'Tears of the False God' and 'Forgotten Sepulcher' levels, and the later versions of the Darkplaces engine do not support most computers or graphics cards. You will find it is slower to load/reload levels and quicksave as a result. Unfortunately there are no Mac builds for quakespasm-spiked.

Installation:

1. Unzip the 'more dimensions' zip to a new folder - DO NOT unzip to your 'quake epsilon' or 'arcane dimensions' folders! It will not work and will break those installations.
2. Copy full (non-shareware) versions of the quake .pak files (pak0.pak, pak1.pak) to the 'id1' subfolder. The game will not run without the full commercial .pak files.
You can purchase full quake off steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/2310/) for about $5-$10 depending on the day and what sales are on.
3. Double-click the "More dimensions.bat" (in windows) or "More dimensions - linux" (in linux).
4. At the menu, go to 'video settings' and change your screen resolution to the highest available.

Notes for Modders:

This has given an opportunity to provide resources for future modders so that people can make their own HD versions of Arcane Dimensions under alternative engines.
These resources include:
(a) The Rygel texture pack in jpeg format (minus the normal maps, which are not useful outside of Darkplaces). This is my optimized version which has some missing textures taken from the QRP texture pack and a few other fixes. On any engine which supports DDS textures, the equivalent 'disolver' pack from ADHD or quake epsilon is better, as DDS textures load faster and have mipmaps precalculated.
(b) Weapon, item and enemy textures for all of arcane dimensions (minus some very small underutilized items, which I didn't bother doing). This includes the AD 1.8 creatures/items, which were not included in the Epsilon AD 1.7 release. Some of these are taken from QRP textures, some from independent artists, and some are combinations of neural-net upsampled textures and stock textures. And some are combinations of all of the above. Only jpeg versions are provided, to save space.
(c) The arcane dimensions consolidated texture pack, in jpeg format. Again, jpeg format is necessary to save space. This pack contains all of the HD textures made by various artists (though usually sourced from QRP) for the various AD levels, and removes duplicates. It also removes files which are already present in the Rygel texture pack. In addition, I have made many efforts to complete the textures of several levels (such as ad_sandcastle) since the existing texture packs for those levels were either incomplete or of insufficient quality. Hopefully now there are not too many low-res textures on each level.
Note that since Quakespasm-spiked doesn't support .skin files, this pack doesn't contain the hi-poly enemy models found in many of the epsilon packs. Likewise it doesn't support normal-mapping or bump-mapping so those textures do not exist here. The AD dog has been swapped out for the original quake dog in this pack, which I prefer.
Tools to use when modding:

waifu2x-caffe for neural-net upsampling (hint: set to CPU in App settings if you don't have CUDA/Nvidia, 2d Illust UpRGB mode, 10x magnify, no denoise, then downsample in photoshop to 20%)
texmex for level texture viewing/out-saving
game extractor for getting files out of .pak files (needs java jre)
obs studio for video capture
dds-crunch for generating decent dds files
alphaconv for identifying which tga/png files have alpha channels
batch image convertor for converting to png/tga/jpg/etc and preserving alpha where possible (alphaconv doesn't actually do this properly - generates corrupted pngs sometimes)
trenchbroom for level editing

Hello. I have a question. Are ALL levels from AD present here? I haven't seen levels like Necromancer's Keep and some others in level select room.
Some are - most are in the Arcane Dimensions HD release, not this one. This just contains the levels which won't run in the darkplaces engine.
Why not transition everything to quakespasm, as darkplaces is not even being developed anymore?
