WHAT IS PROSPERITY?

Prosperity is a level pack for the original Half Life that is inspired by the cancelled Valve project Prospero. The level pack aims to reconstruct the feeling of the world presented in the few development screenshots that are available of Prospero.

WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT PROSPERO?

Prospero was supposedly a MMO type experience that was being developed concurrently with Quiver (Half Life's Development Name). You were to access a library that would allow you to enter other worlds created by other players. I also believe that you were to use psionic abilities. It's a shame we didn't get to experience the Prospero project. Please check out the Half-Life wiki's entry on the game for more information.

Well it's been a good while since I last did one of these, here's a new one just to essentially remind everyone watching that the mod isn't dead. At least not yet. Whilst I am definitely an amateur when it comes to Half-Life mapping I am committed to at least getting a few maps out to you, the public. Currently a basic outline has been established which details the map pack's story line and where you'll visit as Aleph. I'll keep the plot to myself for the time being, still some details to iron out and like this whole mod/map pack itself I don't want to bite off more than I can chew. But one thing I can say is that the story will begin in the refinery, inspired by the industrial level of the original Prospero screenshots. I want to keep a good balance of the minimalist brush work that's found in those screenshots whilst also implementing some of my own ideas. After all we have to assume all those levels we saw in those screenshots were extremely unfinished. Here's a look at the refinery:

I also made a little video to express some of the environment's ambience, feel free to check it out.

That will do it for now, hopefully I will have some more to share in the future. Ideas are bouncing around my head and I hope I can realize them for you. Take care everyone, remember too if you want to know anything about the mod or have any questions just ask in the comments.

Obviously doesn't matter, but the main character being called Aleph is kinda weird. Like, imagine if Gordon was called lambda or something, wouldn't that be weird? Or is it just me?

I don't know really from the little we know we can still work out that they are very different settings. Half-Life is set on Earth in a more contemporary setting, whereas Prospero was meant to be an inter dimensional story. If that makes sense.

Because ModDB allows the community to post media by default some moron posted something offensive, if you see this person do it on other pages report the user.

Sorry, I must have missed this before. The idea with this mod is to create a series of maps that replicate the feel from the few screenshots we have of the cancelled Valve project Prospero.

Glad to see more people that haven't forgotten about Prospero. I'll definitely track this.
