Nah it's just random image from Google Image Search. Similar but not the same thing.

Are the Research Branches going to affect Super Weapons of each particular faction?

Not actual superweapons, but support abilities yes.

...And possibly affect new hero or stolen tech options?

Heroes? Who knows, maybe if I had an infantry artist. Stolen tech? Unlikely.

Mod is constantly evolving so my answers to your questions are not necessarily final. It's possible too that the whole research/technology branch system itself goes through changes in the future.

Description

Researches or 'technology branches' enable you to influence what sort of vehicles, infantry, structures and abilities you have access to during a game. Each faction has two available research options. You select a research option to purchase and place it anywhere on the battlefield when ready. You cannot change the research option once you've chosen one.

Allied Researches:

'Airforce': Air-based abilities & units that are suitable for direct attacks, at the cost of decreased versatility in arsenal.
'Adaptability': Versatile, multi-purpose equipment that comes at cost of vastly decreased specialization.

Dominion Researches:

'Heavy Assault': Raw firepower & heavy armour with excellent direct assault capability but poor array of special abilities.
'Special Weapons': Brute force sacrificed for unorthodox weapons & tactics, including psionics, mind control, disruption weapons and chemical warfare.

Phantom Researches:

'Experimental Technology': Bleeding edge technology & weapons that are powerful, but also put the user at disadvantage either due to cost or unfortunate side effects.
'Subversive': Covert warfare elements such as stealth camouflage and disruptive weaponry like EMP, and some fast 'hit and run'-type units. Ambush capability comes at cost of decreased armor and/or firepower.
