It's 13 months after the incidents at Black Mesa. The Black Mesa Research Facility has been shut down. The nation never got to know anything about the experiments there. The less you know, the less you worry. The government founded a new organisation to handle "alien related topics". They hired the best scientists, technicians and military forces worldwide, its name is Poke646. Some days ago the Poke646 scientists spotted alarming signals from the Xen homeworld. It looks as if the aliens plan to invade Nation City by opening a massive amount of portals. But the Poke646 Tech Labs are already prepared: some months ago the technicians developed a huge generator which is able to close hundreds of portals at once with a bundled energy beam. Four generators are about to be installed at the edges of Nation City. With all four activated they will form a giant beam and hopefully destroy the alien portal technology forever. You play the role of Damien Reeves, the technical assistant...

I noticed when i installed poke 646 and applied this patch, i had to add keybinds into the config.cfg manually (i copy/pasted them from half life's cfg file for my fix), also i noticed the loading screen background and Main Menu background didnt exist. Not sure how to fix that, but the game plays fine.

Have you installed the Steam menu patch?

There were no issue as for me, although a few people claimed that this mod used to crash on some occasion. This was certainly due to Poke646's original source code not compatible with the current Steam Half-Life engine version.

I recoded the mod from scratch, to make it compatible with the 2013 SteamPipe version and made it's source code available.

This will allow people to port it to linux, OSX, since Poke646's source code was never publicly released.

I can confirm the mod works (shows the original background, plays music and all that) - as long as you install this patch first, which is here:
Moddb.com If you install the mod, then go straight to installing the "Steampipe Patch" it wont work. You may wanna add that to your instructions.

The 'Poke646 Steam Fix' you mentioned only adds a Steam menu to the mod, it does not contain levels, sounds, binaries. As such, it is not needed and the mod will run whether users skip 'Poke646 Steam Fix' or not.

The order in which to install the mod and it's patches is explained in the readme.txt found in the 'Poke646 SteamPipe Patch' archive, and it points out the 'Steam fix' you stated.

Okay, after double checking,my original results were wrong(it DOES NOT need the 'Steam Fix', but it seems like the mod will load without AND with the Steampipe patch on the beta version of half life.

It does seem, however dead bodies aren't appearing and the mouse sensitivity is at 20 when you first load into the mod.

When i first started trying to use it i would load in without any controls, now that seems to be working, haven't been able to reproduce that issue yet...

@deadrawkstar

In regards to your statements:

1 - it seems like the mod will load without AND with the Steampipe patch on the beta version of half life.

After your second post, I stated that I had recoded the mod from scratch (emulate) to allow users to port it to different OS, as opposed to version 1.0 being exlusive to Windows. I stated as well that the mod did run generally fine for me and for many users, at the exception of a few crashes/problems when playing. This has been reported by several users along the years.

2 - dead bodies aren't appearing

I reinstalled Poke646, along with the Steam Fix and the SteamPipe patch. It works, and I was able to see dead bodies. Could you please recheck this or explain how to reproduce this issue?

If you are able to demonstrate how to reproduce this issue, please either email me pictures, or report it on Github (submit an issue).

3 - the mouse sensitivity is at 20 when you first load into the mod

Yes. This is due to having packaged the patch with my own configuration file, config.cfg, since it appears several people had trouble launching the original version 1.0 on Steam and had their keys either unbinded or improperly set. Since the Steam version of Half-Life works differently,

I wanted to give users a template config to ensure that, at least, basic controls were configured with the latest structure of the .cfg file. As for the mouse sensitivity being at 20, users can simply lower it if they wish.

@deadrawkstar

I updated the patch.

The dead bodies now should be showing.
To ensure that you check this properly, please do the following:

1. Apply the new patch. Simply copy/paste new client.dll & hl.dll to your current Poke646 folders cl_dlls & dlls.

2. Launch Poke646.
3. Type command: map po_lib01, type god and noclip to be invulnerable and go through walls.

4. Go to the area of the dead bodies.

If it does not work, please let me know.

Who is actually the creator of this mod?
I really want to know the real name of the "eastend" soundtrack.
It is one of the best action music pieces I have ever heard.

@ethics

Poke646 was made by the Poke646 team.

Here is the list of team members from their official website.

Poke646.com

Marc Schröder was the project leader.

In regards to the eastend soundtrack, the team page also has a link to the Poke646 soundtrack.

Unfortunately, it appears that the soundtrack website has been archived.
