The game takes place in the eve of the Seven Hour War. Fighting against blood shedding synths and frightening aliens, Adrian Shephard has to struggle his way with his fellow comrades from the Phoenix Command, with the main objective of stopping the construction of a Combine Citadel. In his journey he will find what has happened to the world, moments before the Seven Hour War.
A large scale recreation of the original prototype by the military.
oooh, looks nice
Very spiffy.
Wouldn't want that thing pointing my way when it goes off.
Looks really good =)
Can you post a picture showing the size compared to the player? Also it looks really nice, great work as ALWAYS. :D
here it is:

Wooo damn, that is a nasty looking turrent.
Nice!
i. want. that. in. my. backyard...
(buried)
looks like a gauss
no **** Skippy
Thanks, Captain!
Ha !
And thus, did Striders everywhere crap their collective pants.
Ah, that explains a lot of things..

Remind me of turret from Red Alert 2, how big is it when it compare to human??
Reminds me of that moment in Halo:Reach where you man the giant MAC cannon near the end.
This would be awesome to face against Striders with.
Gotta be honest, it was a big inspiration. The design of the Reach MAC cannon is phenomenal.
Say what you will about Halo; you have to give Bungie credit for their artistic direction.
THAT LOOKS SO ******* KOOL
It will be on buildings or armoured vehicles ?
It could be on the player's shoulders. We could go like cyborg firing it at everyone :D
******* predator xD
it'll be on the middle of the rand avenue intersection
i forgot to mention that the gun and the base are separate, the base is installed on wherever they plan to use it, then the gun is brought by a chopper/truck and installed on top of the base. it's not a single piece.
another important piece is the reactor, which powers and provides ammo for the gun. the military didn't find out how black mesa kept the reactor so small on the original weapon, therefore the reactor had to be built on an even larger scale. the reactor is about 5m tall, and one of the main objectives in the rand avenue map is to protect it from being destroyed by the combine.
the military preferred to keep the full blast as an emergency, you can only unlock the full blast by manually overriding the security code. the gun initially only charges up to 40% which is enough to kill a strider. you'll see what happens when you charge it up to 100% when we release the first chapter.
"Careful! Don't let it overcharge!"
*Charging up*
"What do you mean overchar-"*BOOM*
That's awesome! I sort of expected it to be on tires, like a mobile AA gun.
a gunships worst nightmare
Oooooooooh!
Gordon could put his face in the barrel. Like a boss.
Anyways, it looks epic! I'm glad that the HECU like to steal ideas, so we would have this.
Looks like something that wouls comsumes Lots of energy
Glad I won't be paying the bills in HL2
So what will you shoot with it ?
You neighbors dog that keeps ******** in your yard - hey, he was warned repeatedly !
lol
Dear Piney, 2010-2011.
Very nice guys, this is very good :X
looks pretty nice. what are your plans for texture work? something like the original perhaps, or maybe a dull, not so design-centric piece (to reflect that it's still new technology)?
duke approves
Will this weapon be used by the player?
Dude, read sir MenteR's post and you will learn everything you need.
Well guess this mean that some of the retreating HECU marines or the few that got left behind n managed to make it out made a pact with the BM scientist or scientists that played a part in actually building & designing the 1st Gauss cannons.
Thats the only real explanation as to how the Phoenix Marines would have been able to replicate such a seriously advanced piece of tech like that. That & or one or more prototype Gauss guns happened to be taken from Black Mesa before it was erased with a thermonuclear bomb.
Would be pretty dam cool to see some X Black Mesa scientists working with the Phoenix Marines tho.
As for the gun its self is it a sentry type gun or is it manually controlled via some kind of an inter face like a lap top for example?
Also will any be capable of being mounted on some kind of a vehicle like a modified M113 APC or Bradly chassis?
the gun started its construction even before the seven hour war, was put on a 2 month hold due to the invasion, then accomplished a month/3 weeks before the events in of2.
this is a military version of the gauss cannon. as you obviously know, the original project already had its blueprints and prototypes back in black mesa. a few HECU marines decided to steal those on the operation, soon after that the military started working on the GAUSS-2, a bigger, stronger version of the portable gauss cannon, from their own blueprints and renditions of the original black mesa concept.
read a post the made on this comment page btw, there's more info there.
Great work.
WANT
omg perfect dont change a thing (exept for applying cool textures)
That's a sweet cannon! I can only imagine what it looks like in color. :]
