Operation: Black Mesa is a total Source remake of Half Life: Opposing Force. Using the Source engine, the developers plan to recreate the Black Mesa research Facility as it was seen by Corporal Adrian Shephard of the H.E.C.U. Half-life: Opposing Force is still an amazing game, although it is not nearly as amazing as it was when it was released.

Ah, I wish I hadn't watched the video, it has spoilers for who never played Opposing Force (I mean monsters like Gonome or these things)

Yeah thats what I was thinking while I was making it, I was following the awesome concept art that Arturo gave me but I somehow started making something that looks kinda like Nemesis from RE3 but I am still happy with how it turned out.

I think that its only a problem when capturing the video. The animation itself is not jerky.

Yeah the gonome video is a bit jerky because im not very good with the virtual camera trying to track the thing. The animation sequences do not have it though so fear not.

I came, that was all top notch work. Great lighting, great animation, great effects. It was all very professional.

I may be too late to change but I do have two nitpicks. Every standard headcrab zombie including the gonomes have gaping maws/mouths on their chest. In every canon game, their "teeth" are formed by their separated ribs. Here you have the teeth separate from the ribs and the ribs blocking the mouth.

Anyway, nitpicking and advice aside, I nearly blew my load at the sight of the Osprey blowing. And when the gonome hunched over and started picking at its maw, I was breathtaken by the animation.
And the Voltigore looks a little too similar to the Antlion Guard. The original Voltigores don't really look bug like and have no discernable carapaces. Instead they were pink and fleshy. Their resemblance to human skin, especially sexual organs disturbed me greatly as a child. For the skin think human, and sexual. Think of penises, scrotums and vaginas in various states and you'd be on the spot.

I also really love the new shock roach splatter effects. The new blue helps make generic alien green look more subtle.

The Gonome is at the heavily advanced state of mutation and barely human anymore, what follows is just my explanation not necessarily true to cannon the headcrab could have increased the victims production of keratin the tough protein that fingernails are made of which produces these large bone like protrusions that break through the skin forming the spikes and "teeth" on the chest I will however break the ribs before release as to allow for the range of movement the gonomes chest jaws would require.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions.

I just can add that the humpback of Voltigore is like of battery where he generates energy, that's why in original it has violet strips. If you could make it phosphoresced it would be awesome!

Best regards

I'm pretty sure the last full paragraph of that comment left something inside me dislodged.. Disturbing, but rather true! As clearly stated in Raising The Bar, Ted Backman's concept art was extremely Freudian since his introduction to the team.

There's no need to alter the Bullsquid. Just use the one from Black Mesa Source. I like the other creatures. Very cool. Why are you using old CRT computer monitors instead of the flat panel LCD ones like seen in BMS? If you are going to truly update the original game, then you might as well go all the way.
