After while the little demo of Void mod appeared on my hard drive in march of 2012. It had unique graphic style, but with gameplay side everything was wrong (unfortunately I haven't any screenshots of "Void" now).
After month of realizing that this mod wouldn't work properly on CryEngine with all ideas and physical puzzles, the first visions and versions of Onirica started to come to me. Yep, I had to change name to a more original one. For a some time I still wanted to add some new gameplay elements like collectable notes and physical puzzles, but I had no luck with it, so I just continue work on technical side. Well, actually I had "luck" with these elements, but the methods and quality of how it worked was... not that good.
And while it looked interesting it still had no real gameplay, no main character, no story and no goal. Yeah, quite a bad start for a project that already has been announced. I kinda stuck on this in late summer of 2012. So I continue my weird experiments again.
I guess that I was too ambitious and just hadn't any real experience of game and level design and that's why mod for a long time was on dead point (this is a classical mistake of beginners). Until some time...
The main level of mod was started to develop only in december of 2012, just after I visited the first four games of Silent Hill series. After this it was like "Holy sh*t... Now I know how to make it."
And nowadays the mod still has no main hero, no story behind of it all, no usual gameplay, but I already know how to show it all in a good way. The work on mod became more stable from that point. And I clearly knew that this supposed to be a short but quite beautiful journey through "hero's mind". Time went on and soon already it was finally done.
I'd like to thank everyone who played and fairly rated this little experimental mod.
That's all. Bye and good luck!

An excellent mod, I haven't seen one like this in ages, sure hope Far Cry 1's modding community makes a comeback, this one had me on the edge the whole time, it's extremely nice that you did not use any cheap jumpscares, rather a spooky "what's gonna happen next!?" feeling, it's when you expect jumpscares to happen at any moment that it gets extremely horrific! An excellent mod, solid 8/10.
Happy Halloween 2019
Thanks for playing and your nice review!

Sorry for the huge post guys;
I downloaded this mod and it was awesome, but then i tried to go back to regular far cry and now it almost seems like Onirica's controls have imprinted themselves over Far Cry's original controls. Example: i can only walk and aim, i cannot jump/shoot/reload/use grenades/switch weapons/basically anything else but WASD and the mouse for aim just like Onirica. Whats interesting though is -DEVMODE commands on hotkeys still work like fly mode/all weapons/999 ammo (god mode has never worked for backspace or any key or even In console command window, but beside the point) but weapons dont show on the bottom of the screen and im stuck holding the last weapon i used which is the rocket launcher.
Ive removed the mod from the mod folder in the far cry directory, but still to no avail. Also turned dev mode off and rebooted whole system. Any solutions guys?
Hey, sorry for the late reply and thanks for playing. You just have to reset controls in options and everything will be fine.
It was designed the way that you couldn't crouch or prone in game, so all controls for such things was just removed in mod's config file, which unfortunately resets original controls too. I just didn't know how else you could do it really. It is more related to how the CryEngine works, if I understand it correctly. But if there was some other workaround then I'm sorry for such dull method and for ruining controls (maybe even custom ones).
The game looks great.
But I stuck in the wood with the stairs.
i can't get vsync to work :( my gpu's are squealing at 1500-2000 fps.
Maybe i'm being stupid, but I appear to be stuck in the cage with the word MURDERER painted on it.
You should wait around 1 min, then you just will jump to another place.
Actually delay trigger here is setted to 15 seconds I think, but anyway engine time counter is weird. Sometimes delay trigger counts 15 seconds, sometimes even 2 minutes. I'm sorry, it's only related to game engine, it's getting old.
