Q: What is this mod about?
A: This is a conversion of Rome Total War into The Lord of Rings based on the movie trilogy by Peter Jackson.

Q: Are you affiliated with the other LOTR mods?
A: I am a member of Fourth Age: Total War dev team but this mod is separate from that and developed independent of each other, although we do share resources

Q: Why is (details in the game) not accurate to the books?
A: This mod is based on the movies so it follows that version instead of the books. The guide I am using is "The Lord of the Rings: Weapons and Warfare" by Chris Smith.

Q: Is there a campaign included?
A: Currently no, but it is planned and will be worked on shortly.

Q: Are there Historical Battles?
A: Yes, the patch 1.1 includes The Battle of Last Alliance

Q: How many factions are in the game?
A: 8 full factions and 4 special factions (for historical battles). More factions will be added in the near future.

Q: How many units per faction is there?
A: It ranged from 10 to 15 for the full factions.

Q: Is there custom music for this game?
A: Yes, the music is various edited clips from the official soundtrack, with theme scores for each culture. However, sometimes new music can't be used. To fix this, go to Data/sounds and find the file "events.dat" and either delete or rename that file. That file is no longer used by the game but bypassed any changes made to music so you're better off without it.

Q: Is there custom UI?
A: Currently no. Although I have made custom UI, modifying pack files during installation (which is required to show custom-made UI) is beyond me right now. I'd rather not include them instead of tyring things that could mess up your computer. If you can create this kind of installer (that could rename files, etc), you're welcome to help out.

Q: How can I help this mod?
A: You can help by play testing in multiplayer and against AI, then discussing if any revision is required for the units or even the faction. The unit roster is not final and they may be added or changed.

Q: How can I join your team to develop this mod?
A: That would be hard since there's no team. I made the mod by myself. However I may start a team when development of the campaign map starts.

Q: Where can I download this mod?
A: Check the pinned thread in this forum for file hosts.

Q: What do I need to install this mod? Is it compatible with RTR?
A: You will need a fresh folder of RTW vanilla with 1.2 patch installed. It is NOT compatible with RTR or any other mod.

Q: Will it ever be upgraded to BI?
A: Maybe. It is planned to be upgraded to 1.5 but whether it will compatible with BI is still under consideration. I am planning to use the Senate system, which is so far only works for 1.5 and not BI.

Q: Will you change the buildings? And make Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith?
A: I am planning to create new building but making replicas of the cities in the movies may take longer. I am planning to work on those after the basic campaign has been implemented.

Q: Will you be adding custom sounds like general orders and speeches?
A: Yes. But that will be work on later when units and factions have been finalized.

Q: Make this unit like so and so according to my taste!
A: You may give suggestions on what can be done to improve the mod but I still hold the final decision. Some of my choices may not be liked by some players. If you dislike it so much, you're welcome to make your own modified version of this mod. In fact, I encourage players to mod it to their liking since I find modding to be very enjoyable.
