I just played it and it is really great.
The parts in the beginning where I have to find my way out of the underground feel a lot like Half Life 2, I like that. I have to look around and find clues as to where to go. The combat is challenging and well put together. I can even see the enemies taking their positions. Enemies take cover, attack me from different angles/levels and dynamically regroup - very cool. Definitely lives up to run-think-shoot live. Here's my playthrough: Youtu.be

I too also had a bunch of random symbols display on the screen -- I believe it's where the title of the mod displays -- when using the MMod compatibility patch. That doesn't happen without the MMod patch.

The MMod Compatibility Patch was designed by a third-party therefor I cannot offer any support in that regard.

Great mod. Under Linux it works with rename all files to lowercase and copying server and client.so to the bin folder.

Only after starting the mod where someone shouts "wake up" i had a bunch of symbols on the screen, i think this is the title, but here i have only symbols.
