The lighting works but the textures don't seem to load for me, so stuff like the parallax occlusion just gets applied to the old cranky textures.

This is with the files included in this mod unpacked and the hexen.wad (Steam version) put into the same folder with no other mods loaded and launched using the .bat file.

Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me (this is with Brutal mod, but it looks the same with just this PBR mod out of the box): Imgur.com

The trees and other static sprites do seem to get replaced though.

Tried it in newer version of GZDoom as well, with the newer h_PBR_v450.pk3 as well, doesn't correctly replace textures either.

Or does this mod not come with remade HD textures like the one for Heretic?

Everything is correct. Textures made by a neural network, textures are made by a neural network, so they look like this.

Okay I figured out the problem I was having. That little hint you dropped about the neural textures helped.

Best place to spot this is in the room near the start of the first level with the red portal in the center. If you see the red light reflect on the floor and see the specular shine, it works correctly. If you don't see it, something's wrong. Also noticeable in Hub 1 Guardian of Steel, where a lot of parts will be unnaturally dark - I'm talking pitch black dark where you can's see anything, because some of the walls don't get lit by nearby lights.

Part of it is the lighting mode setting in GZDoom. Lighting has to be set to Dark (Doom setting looks like it might work but I'm not sure yet), which is probably why it didn't work well for me out of the box either.

Next, apparently mods like Brutal Hexen make changes to the maps too, so in the above example, the floor material gets replaced with the Brutal Hexen texture, which has no specular/metallic map and the height map for parallax just gets autogenerated from greyscale (and is sometimes even inverted).

To fix this, this mod ("hexenremade.wad" and "h_PBR_v450.pk3") has to be loaded last.

Currently using this and the music remake you mentioned in the comments, and goddaaaamn this is cool. Not getting enough attention.

I'm not usually a fan of mods like this, in most Doom engine games (and Quake for that matter) I think they're tacky, and this is still kinda tacky, but in Hexen it just feels right.

Think you'll ever re-do the weapon sprites based off of the new widescreen resources GZDoom released?

Also, just think I should mention a couple things:
1. The RT shader isn't compiling on my PC. Not a huge deal, but I doubt it's working for many people. Maybe GPU-dependent?

2. GZDoom settings-wise, it might make sense to have light shadowmaps enabled by default, and maybe set the sector light mode (in Display Options > Hardware Rendering) to software. That might sound strange, but it doesn't affect the quality of the lighting in the way you might think, what it *does* do is make your character illuminate the area around them more prominently, fixing some visibility issues you otherwise get in dark areas, kind of like holding a torch.

You can download a widescreen patch from the Zdoom forum . It is compatible with this mod.
Try installing a newer version of reshade. I don't think this is a hardware problem. In any case, there is another problem with accessing the depth buffer in new versions of Gzdoom)
Strangely, Shadowmaps should be enabled. I use the dark sector mode. The halo around the character is too light, shaders do not work in this radius. perhaps I will fix some places in the update.
