How to install:
*If you are updating from a previous version, delete the previous version before installing.
Download and extract this .rar archive.
If you are using the Steam version, you may place the "LeaderOverhaulMod" folder anywhere. If you have the windows store version, then you must put it here:
C:\Users\*YourUsername*\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.BulldogThreshold_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState
Open the LeaderOverhaulMod folder and copy the folder address/path
Then, go to:
C:\Users\*YourUsername*\AppData\Local\Halo Wars
Right click, create a .txt file and name it "ModManifest".
Open ModManifest and paste in the address that was copied.
Save ModManifest, and you're done

- Added armor to: Elite Ultra, Elite Ranger, Elite General, Elite Officer (Grunt squad upgrade), Elite Honor Guard, Brute Minor, Brute Major, Brute Captain, Jump Pack Brute, Grunt Ultra (Grunt squad upgrade), Grunt Heavy, ODST, ODST Sniper, Spartans
- Added weapons: Focus Rifle, Silenced SMG, Sniper Rifle, Brute Plasma Rifle, Plasma Launcher
- Jackal Shield and Hunter's textures change as they are upgraded
- Vehicles: Added Grunt Ghost, modified Fuel Rod Wraith Turret
General Changes:
- Cutter now also has ODST Snipers that can be dropped onto the battlefield
- Elite Rangers are no longer anti-Infantry, and instead wield Plasma Rifles.
- Arbiter's Elite Heavies renamed to Elite Ultras and can now be upgraded to have Plasma Launchers
- Arbiter's Spec Ops Elites changed to Elite Generals that are stronger and wield energy swords.
- The Elite Drop power costs more, takes longer to recharge, and can only be recharged up to 5 at maximum, rather than 10.
- Grunt Squad's 2nd upgrade now upgrades the elite leader of the squad to an elite officer
- Jackal Shields with the Supreme Gauntlet upgrade are now yellow
- Brutes renamed to Brute Major, made more expensive, and deal more damage.
- Brute Heavies replaced with Brute Minors (They us Brute Plasma Rifles), which can be upgraded to Jump Pack Brutes
- Needler Skirmisher replaced with Brute Captains, whose power armor deflects small arms fire
- Prophet of Regret's Elite Heavies replaced with Elite Honor Guards that dual wield Plasma Rifles. They have the same upgrades as the sword-wielding Honor Guards
- Grunt-driven Ghosts replace the Cicada. They are slightly weaker than regular Ghosts
- Engineers now explode when killed, dealing AOE damage to enemy units
- Updated many Unit and Tech icons
- Rocket Warthogs now fire 6 rockets per attack, rather than 2
- Some units' supply/power costs have been changed, mainly the covenant leaders' main building units
- Drones have been removed entirely. Instead, Regret has access to Forerunner protectors via teh second summit page.

Question, does this purely affect skirmish and multiplayer or does it also affect the campaign as well
This update only had skirmish in mind, but the mod does make a few minor changes to the campaign.
I love the changes to the ODSTs and Elite Heavys oh my bad Elite Ultras! You have no idea how hype I got then I saw them! Everything in general looks and preforms great you took your time with this update and it shows.

Yes I did, it just don't work for me for some odd reason. I may not be extracting it correctly or I may not have correctly deleted the last mod... Yet I'm pretty sure I did.
I even deleted the game in its entiredy from steam, redownloaded it and... nope. Any input on this confusing situation?

Is it possilbe for you to buff the Grunt leader and Rebellion leader because they both are terrible in thier current state i can win as other leaders but as the grunt and rebellion leader i almost always lose as i have done several test and this is always the result. Them as leaders is an amazing ideal but the gameplay is quite horrible if you can almost never win as them and you just might get lucky to be able to win as them but it shouldn't require luck to play these leaders rather your play style should matter the most

Noticed that the drones have been removed in the most recent version, are they being reworked or are they simply out of the mod permanently?
I might add them back in properly later, but I don't currently have a plan for them.

I downloaded it properly now but I’ve noticed that all UNSC characters if AI barely spawn any troops at all and if anything horde resources and don’t spend any even on legendary. And the flood especially doesn’t do a single thing except buy more bases and buildings but no units being created. The covenant are perfect though great job on them 😁

what if one does not have {Halo Wars} as a file in {local}? (non steam.)
If you bought it on the windows store, then I think the folder should be there. Did you get a cracked version?
If cracked means "less than legal" than no, I bought it fairly.
Ok, "non-steam" just threw me off. All I can think of is try creating the Halo Wars folder yourself
Fixed it,I made a Halo Wars folder and put the .txt file in but it did not work, however putting that same .txt file in {LocalState} along with {LeaderOverhaulMod} and [GameConfig.dat] allowed the mod to work.

Where exactly is 'anywhere', If I may ask? Do you mean that I should extract this mod file to steamapps > common > HaloWarsDE specifically, or am I missing a step?
You can extract the archive anywhere on your pc
could you make this mod a different way i cant install a mod this way because the game starts normally if i do what you say to do, its a cracked steam game yes i know bad but i still get the steam part in the appdata local part for halo wars i just cant do modmanifests
all the game does is start normally

well using the modmanifest.txt way ofc they dont work but the modded exe and modded root.era those mods work

I'm enjoying the hell out of this mod! As someone new to halo who loves rts games this was the perfect jumping on point to get me invested and this mod basically makes it a whole lot better.
While I was playing flood though I did notice a bug sadly. The pelican has no ability to eject its units when loaded up.
