Some of you in the mod community remember the original one-map Half-Life Halloween mod I created in 2001, and even more of you have played the 2002 version I also made for Half-Life. The Halloween 2005 mod will take elements of the 2002 version and use the capabilities of the source engine to make an extended Halloween themed single-player HL2 mod with an new, indepth and original storyline taking the player from his suburban neighborhood to do battle with the evils of Halloween Land, and ultimately, the Grim Reaper. The style of game-play will be similar to that of GTA in that you are given tasks by characters to complete in other maps and return after completion to gain money, items, or to simply progress along the storyline.

I haven't checked pathed version yet, I just want to say one thing. I played this mod back in 2005, when it was all new. Good old days, Day Hard and other pioneers of Source modding. And thank you, thank you that there are still people who don't forget their old creations, even after 10 years, support them and bring us our memories back. Well, first this, then Ravenholm.

Can't drive tractor. It seems I can use steering wheel, but not accelerate. Also, never heard before about alternative gameplay with new maps. What the story behind them?

1 - Can't drive tractor

Did you fill the tractor's tank with petrol? If not, this is why you cannot drive it.

At the far left of the barn (where you find the tractor), is a small shelter to which you need to break the lock and open the door. You should find a gas can inside. Collect it, then return to the tractor barn and fill the tractor tank.

2- alternative gameplay with new maps

There are two versions of this mod. One from 2005, and a redux version from 2006, all made by the same author.

Seems to work perfectly fine. But why do you have to launch it from Source SDK?

This is because source modifications do not appear in the Steam game library.

If anyone knows a way to make them appear in the game library, it would be greatly appreciated.

I put it in the sourcemods folder and it shows up fine in my Steam Library as HalloweenHL2PN, it just requires the launch option -allowdebug to stop it crashing at menu.

Indeed, it shows up in the game library.

You also mentioned the need to enter -allowdebug in the options to avoid a certain crash. I did not experience this, so I did not need to enter -allowdebug.

I really appreciate that you told me, so I will proceed and update the ReadMe.txt on my next patch to make users extract the folder in the sourcemods folder, so they don't need to manually enter -game <mod_folder> and launch it from Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer.

I will proceed to do so on my next patch, and if I see that no users encounter problems, I will do an update on all my patches.

The tractor is busted for me. I get in, and for a few frames, I see the "correct" view from the tractor -- straight on, but then it'll switch to an angled view where I'm looking slightly off to the side of the tractor and I can't move the mouse to correct my view.

Also, weird request: do you think you could fix the Non-Redux version of this, too? I know Redux is technically more polished, but it's also got a lot of very boring padding added that I don't like. Hiking around a big empty farm maze kinda sucks.

I would see no problem in doing this. I could try to see and get it working before Halloween.

2 - The tractor is busted for me.

Yes, I was perfectly aware of this problem before the release of the patch. But since it represents only one portion of the game, and is not too long, I did not focus on correcting this issue. My main objective with this patch was to get the mod working again, without crashing.

Though, When I will work on the Non-Redux fix of Halloween, I will see about fixing this issue and will update both patches.

The issue regarding the player's view being altered when driving the tractor on map farmrd_01 has been solved.
