Battle the Reconquista with an All New Granada

This is a humble attempt to make some improvements to Mohant de Granada's amazing mod, Reconquista 1257

What is New?

  • Complete Overhaul of Granadine Troop Tree
  • Some Mercenary unit and Troop Tree overhauls.
  • Tweaks to the Aragonese Troop Tree
  • Changed some Companions to make the game feel a bit more accurate.
  • Changed Sultan "Muley Hacen" to Sultan "Ali Abu Al Hassan"
  • Increased Quantity of Food (eg. Bread used to be 50 units of food, now it is 100 units)

Granadine Troop Tree (changing this troop tree made the in-game troop tree, that is found in the "Reports" tab, of Granada obsolete):

  • Changed Moors Recruits to Muslim Volunteers. These troops are slightly better equipped to deal with the Moors Bandits that plague the Southern parts of the map.
  • Muslim Volunteers > Muslim Footmen or Muslim Skirmishers
  • Muslim Footmen > Granadine Infantry or Granadine Lancers (Infantry and Lancers become Elite Nasirid Guards and Lancers respectively, with Infantry having the added option of become "Berber Infantry which is a good light infantry)
  • Muslim Skirmishers > Berber Archers or Granadine Crossbowmen (Archers will upgrade to Camel-riding Taureg units, which are now the only units that can ride camels, while Crossbowmen become Master Crossbowmen)

Mercenary Troop Tree Overhauls:

  • Mocharebs are now Mozarebs and upgrade into Iberian Cavalry which is a kind of neutral cavalry representing the Muslim-Roman Descendants living in the Iberian Peninsula (Spain). If you you use them in a Christian Army, you could say that the Mozarebs (naturalized Arabs) Remained Christian and if you use them in a Muslim Army you could say that they chose to fight for the Muslims in Spain. The max tier is the Iberian Charger which is a Heavy Lancer Cavalry.
  • Turkish Volunteers (instead of Hashashin) can now be recruited from Ahmed de Zebo and give the player access to the Turkish Mercenaries which include the Atabegs and are upgradeable to Sipahis (Heavy Horse Archers) or Kapikulu (Heavy Melee Cavalry). P.S Kapikulu Cavalry will still be available in Taverns.
  • Mounted Patrol has been given helmets and Lances. They can be Upgraded to Granadine Jinetes (Javelin Cavalry) or Jinetes depending on the player.
  • The "Peasants" that you used to train in villages for that mission are now "Trained Militia" and have spears and some better stats as you have trained them.

Tweaks to the Aragonese:

  • A common problem I discovered with Aragorn was that (since they are the Khergits in the texts) they spam Cavalry and have full Knight Armies.
  • To solve this they have been given Archers which become Crossbowmen
  • And Catalan Infantry which become the Ermine Order
  • So that their Armies can be a bit more balanced

Companion Changes:

  • Rafo Italiano has been changed to Rauf Al Haaris who is a former Marinid Royal Guard
  • The Surgeon (Native name: Jeremus the Monk) has been changed to Qatib Al Hakeem with the respective gear.
  • Musa Bojasen is now Musa Al Muhandis
  • Will try andchange conversations for these companions aswell in the furure.

Some Trivia:

  • Even though the date in the game is 1257 and mod is called "Reconquista 1257" the events portrayed and the Npcs are from the 1480s. I think its called "1257" as a credit to the "1257 A.D" mod which was used as a base, I think, for "Reconquista 1257". So try and imagine that the date is 1481 :)
  • The Word "Granadine" and "Muslim" is used to represent both Arab and Berber volunteers in the Emirate of Granada, Since in the Granadine Army was made up of both.
  • The Marinid Royal Guard (Heavy Lancer Cavalry) in the submod are a tribute to those soldiers from North-Africa that were sent by the Marinid Sultans to aid the ailing Emirate of Granada. (Marinid Royal Guard cannot be recruited or upgraded to, they can only be rescued and occasionally spawn in non-palyer-controlled Granadine Settlements)
  • The "Berber Infantry" is a representation of the amount of Berbers in Granadine Armies.

For the Future:

  • I would like to edit Companion conversations and Npc Lord conversations to make them sound better.
  • I would also like to release a scene fix because some sieges are broken. (if you encounter any of them then just follow the fix text in your Mod folder left behind by Mohant de Granada to help, its called "TOWNS AND CASTLES LIST")
