1947, World War II was only just halted, and already do tensions rise up between the western and eastern nations. Pick a side and see if you can halt the Cold War, or will you escalate it?

Interesting, I hope this would be released soon so I could play it right away! But I do have points here that should be clarified:

You say that this Chinese Civil War already starts at the beginning of the game (1947 Timeline), then:

- Guangzhouwan (French Territory in China) should be now part of China since it was given back to them after World War II by signing the French-Chinese Agreement in 1946.

- There were no Chinese Communists in China's Southern Portion at the time since they were largely focused and active in Manchuria in 1947.

- Tibet was independent during 1947, only to be incorporated by the People's Republic of China in 1950 after their victory in the Chinese Civil War.

- The North-South Korean Border shown here appears to be the modern partition line after the Korean Armistice Agreement signed in 1953. This is different from the 38th Parallel (Dividing Line used on Korea from 1945-1950).

I'll look into Guangzhouwan and Tibet.

The Commies in the south are guerrilla forces, they don't own any territory there but have been present from 1945 to 1949.

The 38th Parallel can't be created properly with the provinces map. While I could edit the provinces map, this would also affect future Korea and make it impossible to have North and South Korea the way they currently are. So it'd be sacrificing current accuracy for later accuracy.

One more suggestion, I do not know if this would make the mod better, but I think the First Indochina War should also be featured in the mod since this conflict is one of the main highlights of the Cold War Timeline.

Would you rather :

- Trigger this war at the beginning of the game with a United Communist Front engaging against French Indochina (I do not know how to put this in words, but I assume that this would be really complicated and a burden to the mod, considering the fact that you work almost alone).

- Trigger an event and news at some point in 1954 instead of a war in the beginning of the game stating that the French lost the Indochina War and that they withdraw from Indochina, subsequently giving independence to their colonies (Would lead to the creation of Communist North Vietnam and Democratic South Vietnam, Non-Aligned Kingdom of Laos and Kingdom of Cambodia, which would both turn into Communist after the Laotian and Cambodian Civil War. Again, I know that this would be tiresome considering that you are delayed by the functionality of events but I guess this option is better).

- Disregard the First Indochina War since it is only a minor event part of the Cold War and would only lag the game even more (in case you chose to have a war) or may cause problems with your future plans for the mod.

Furthermore, I also suggest that you should make connections or a "Modding Team" with HOI IV modders which could be helpful and beneficial to your project. Well, these-people/this-person could replace your mod partner for the meantime (Despite he's not always available and does not do a lot, though I am NOT saying that he's useless). I hope this helped!

Well, seeing as the start date of the First Indochina War was in 1946, I could very well have it a war at the beginning of the game. Then again, the rather problematic functioning of events caused me kinda to give up on modding Hearts of Iron IV. I'd also have to balance it out in a way that Viet Minh can actually win against their counterpart without having to take a boat and sail to France.

I like your suggestions though.

Well, there were guerrilla commies in the south, yet it's hard to represent them in HoI.

Not going to try to repeat what Kudou said, but yeah, Tibet should be independent, as well as the Second East Turkestan Republic (Sinkiang in vanilla HoI), whom were sorta "co-owned" until the end of the Korean War, yet dejure China.
As well as, Nationalist China owns Beijing, here are 2 good maps you can use.

Disregard all the warlords:

Description

The Chinese civil war is one of the wars present at the start. It is between the People's Republic of China, and the Republic (Or Nationalist government) of China.

Historically, the Chinese civil war had already started back in the '30s. However, with the pending invasion of Japan, the two governments signed a temporary truce in order to combat the Japanese invasion. When the Japanese were eventually removed, the Chinese civil war sparked again. The Communist government had 1,2 million troops, as opposed to the Nationalist government's 4,3 million troops in 1945-1946. In 1949, the number had flipped around, with Communist China leading 4 million troops against the Nationalist 1,5 million troops. The Soviets heavily supported the People's Republic of China and send them a lot of supplies, eventually the Communists emerged victorious as the Republic of China was forced onto Japan.
