Árpád Szakasits was a Hungarian politician and leader of the Democratic party. However, when the Communists seized power in Hungary, Árpád, in conjunction with Mátyás Rakosi, ruled Hungary until the end of the 1940s, when Mátyás was removed and Árpád succeeded himself as the leader of the Presidential Council, however, he ruled no longer than a year before being replaced by someone else.
