Alpha 6 should land some time in July. We have just completed the final map we'd like to put in it, and we're now starting to write the scenes and work on the gameplay mechanics to make those bits fun.
Big things we've changed since Alpha #5:
- Added new infected models
- Added new sections to the old maps
- Re-wrote and re-recorded the first scene
- Started using our own core shaders, fixing the drawing issues with dynamic light
- Added a flashlight and a new battery mechanic
- Added a Colt 1911 (replaces the pistol)
- Added a hammer (replaces the crowbar)
...and we've added fresh new levels with more scenes and more content. So watch this space! And don't assume we're dead. We'll never die. Unless we drink the water.
And should it die, I'm sure it will come back as a "zombie mod".

Has the progress of the mod changed since HL2/episodes have been ported to steam pipe?
Not right now. If Valve do anything with the SDK we might have issues (which we'll hopefully be able to fix), but as of yet we haven't had to do anything.
