It's been over a year since the final version of 'Epic Generals' was released.

However, fans of the mod will be glad to know that a new version is scheduled to be released.

Version 1.5, otherwise known as 'Tournament Edition' will air on October 1st 2006.

Tournament Edition is a considerable re-write of the original Epic Generals - although it retains the same basic gameplay ideals. Designed with online play in mind (specifically player versus player), every single squad and unit has been recrafted.

Players will now find that they're always going to need the right tool for the job; if you want to take down those powerplants before the super weapon can fire, then you're going to need something that can quickly destroy those buildings. Likewise, those tanks are almost impervious to small arms, so it's time to get some heavier weapons into the action...

Additionally, all of the unit weapons and other miscellaneous graphics have been given an overhaul, designed with online efficiency in mind and the intention of reducing the likelihood of synchronisation errors from occuring.

Fans who have been eagerly expecting Epic: Zero Hour will also be pleased to know that the mod will be released in the not-too-distant future, although no date can be as yet confirmed. Epic: Zero Hour will follow the same strictures and game structure as Tournament Edition.
