Silly Edit: This is a minor mess-up on my part, this image was taken before the starting forces were reworked.
The Empire starts with Coruscant, Corellia, Kuat, Corulag.
Rebels start with Yavin, Rhen Var, Mon Calamari.
Underworld starts with Tatooine, Ryloth, Geonosis, Socorro
Of the minor factions, the Republic Remnant has been removed and the Hutts now control the Kessel/Maw system. The rest is the same.

Overview of the 28 planet gc with similar starting conditions. Each player starts with 3 or 4 planets, with one planet in their backyard controlled by a minor faction. These are easy expansion opportunities.

There are 4 paths between the 3 clusters of major factions, a direct route to another cluster on the outside of the triangle, with slow routes. The Hutt Cartels and Mandalorians guard 2 of the 3 triangle sides. A faster, more direct route that leads through the center. In the center, the Hapes Consortium awaits and expands, leading to a 3 (4?) way battle.

You cant play the minor factions anyway so them being removed from here means nothing.

Description

The discord closed alpha test has been going for two and a half months now, and the process has been extraordinarily productive. A tremendous amount of bugs and crashes has been found and fixed, and loads of new content is created and added every day. Polish is also happening at this point.

Recently the 8 minor factions have received custom ground regiments with units, such as the CIS hailfire, spider droid, crab droid, the Republic UT-AT and super SPHAT walker (The attack of the clones one), Hapan tanks, sith tanks, mandalorian tanks, a suicide mouse droid, and more.

GC maps are still expanding, atm there are 4 maps, 3 Web Way versions of 90, 110, and 145 planets, with new victory conditions (Conquer and hold the 7 sectors around the galaxy) And a smaller, 28 planet gc that is beginners friendly. Each faction has similar starting conditions on this GC, and is ideal for getting the hang of the new buildings, starbases, ground and space combat, all the attrition and upkeep costs, before you're thrown into the deep of the Web Way where 2 other major and 8 minor factions will be coming after you.

All in all I know it's taking a while guys, but I can't stress enough how important (and useful) this period of testing and polishing has been. Not only is the content that is there being improved, new content is actively being added making 4.0 that much more of a complete experience.
