You know, this is one of those things in EAW which I've always subconsciously hated but never considered as something which would be fixed. You've made my day. Everything you post makes me more excited for the next version.

Those pictures are incredible.

Thanks man! There's these aspects of the game that nobody ever talks about, like camera angles, or map lighting, which make such a massive difference to the play experience that I feel like they deserve to be looked at, I try to spend time on every one of these and make them the best I can. I think it really adds to the experience, and I think the mod reflects that.

Yeah, this mod has a ton of attention to detail. Stuff like the small untargetable weapons on ships; there are a lot of people I know who don't realize how powerful the star destroyer is in this mod, because everyone is used to just looking at the hardpoints to judge how powerful a ship is. Same with the asymmetry; dancing around imperial capital ships dodging laser bolts is so fun.

Oh, and the graphics of course. This really is a Star Wars experience.

Not from a jedi...

The new patch has the camera file, feel free to look through my settings and unlock the power of the darkside.

J, seriously, you've outdone yourself with this. The cinema mode is one of my favorite aspects of the game and perhaps even in any post-EaW-RTS-game. It just feels like you're 'in', like piloting all the vessels. If you could control them in game arcadelike it would be perfect. The light and shadow on that ISD is mesmerizing just as your work in general.

Description

I've coded a new camera with several exciting new features.

First, something that's never really used in Empire at war, you can now pan 360 degrees around ships, including up and down, without the camera shooting off the side of the map. Not a major change, but definitely nice.

Second, the "zoom" function has been changed completely. Normally when you scroll up and down the camera would move forwards and backwards in the direction you're pointing the camera. While this still happens a little bit, when you zoom now, the field of view changes between wide angle and narrow angle. The game now defaults to a more cinematic view. If you want to see more of the battle, or feel like you're not seeing enough with the narrower field of view, simply zoom out and the game'll change back to wide angle. Zooming in will create an even narrower field of view which makes for some really cool cinematic battles.

Here you can see a few screenshots showing the wide and narrower angles. All screenshots are taken without "cinematic mode", I simply removed the HUD from the screen by pressing "I". Who needs cinematic mode when your camera looks like this anyway? Panning around the battlefield has never been more epic.
