This mod catapults Empire at War into 2077. It maintains the game's design philosophy, while adding new units, better graphics, and deeper gameplay.
Can't quite express how glad I am this long-standing issue is fixed. All ships will now attempt to face their target when firing at it.
Praise Gun Jesus.
Yessss!!! Thank goodness someone was able to address it! What was prompting all the ships to broadside? How can this be applied to other projects?
It's basically the game being stupid, it determines what side of the ship produces the most firepower and turns the ship to that side. With turrets, since you have to turn all attachment bones 90 degrees, the game thinks it's the broadside of the ship. You then have to trick the game into thinking that the most powerful side is actually the front, which it is of course, but not according to the rigging of the ships.
how'd you manage to trick the game? love this change btw, i always managed to keep them in line, but now thankfully i won't have to!
I whip em real good until they're good boys ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
You told the game that you find it's lack of faith disturbing?
Always figured that was why they did that. At least now you got it to finally work properly.
No longer will I turn away from my enemy! Now i shall unleash my mighty load of plasma while staring my enemy in the eye!
"load" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Now that is a nice bug fix that has always irritated me to no end.
Does it include super sized ships like the bellator since they extra stupid in that regard?
stunning
Please tell us, why do you think that it was necessary to change the ion canons, lasers? Now they are not so visible, not bright and I think it steals the experience.
Well, you have the scroll wheel. This way people get to have an overview of the battlefield and if you don't like that you can simply zoom in.
I think it was correct, to much stuff in the game was too "in your face". If, if EaW:R giant smoke trails are reduced too, we have a nice and shiny presentation.
That also already happened :)
Salute +1

thanks you just make my day!
So, you ever thinking in the near future to just work on the source code and allow the game to accept more cores, ram and every other resource our computers today can handle? So that we can have smooth 60FPS large battles? Or nah?
Sure, if you find a programmer willing to do that, I'm sure loads of people would appreciate it. Also: Altering source code is actually illegal.
So what exactly do i have to change in the files to make the ships fire forward? i really need to know please
Always made me wonder why they kept going broadside.
I was like, "Welp. so much for the wedge shape of ISDs."
Although some ships do have advantage of broadside, I think.
Is this the same as the fake hard points fix we use in AotR?
Yup, you just add weapons that don't fire.
