Regarding the lightbringers a few things have changed: they are now called Lore-masters and are single units. They can be appointed as Lore-master of the sea, stones, the wind or the light and so influence their sourroundings in diffrent ways and form new combinations. The entire system is a little bit more subtle to integrate the aspekt of magic meaningful. To compensate the siege weapon aspect, Rivendell is now able to bulid siege works and can recruit a unique siege weapon that can be upraded with special ammunition.
I wonder that what kind of new ammunition can Imladris Catapults use, does anyone know it ? thank you.
Well, I imagine Coca-Cola bottles... I mean, what else would they use, amirite?
That would actually be quite damaging to unarmored enemies actually, launching glass bottles at high velocity at the enemy to have them shatter upon impact eviscerating the enemy with dozens of cuts and having glass shards buried in the wounds.
I have to admit the design is beautiful. But I don't think siege weapons fit Imladris, still prefer the mages and the old hobbit fireworks ballista. People will say it was not lore-accurate, but I thought it very creative (to be sure I am against all hobbit units aside from the ballistas and the donkey riders).
I find this much more better and lore accurate than the Mages and Hobbit Ballista. After all during the First Age in the Wars and many Sieges the Elves made they used Siege Machines if I am not mistaken,it is just during the WOTR tje Elves didn't had the numbers for Opeb War and Sieges thats all.
Great work on this awesome looking Catapult! :-)
Well said, Dáin. This is the main point of the concept: staying close to the fundamental principles of the Eldar's common lore and coming up with, in the meantime, a very suitable solution for the gameplay ;)
P.S. The Noldor even managed to siege Angband and almost all the chain of the Iron Mountains for more than 400 years.
Thank you my friend. Absolutely agree with you,my point exactly! :-)
As I agree that it is hard to imagine a Group of Noldor hammering a Gate with a Ram we can assume they may have had more ellegant or magic enhanced "tool"for the purpose, things we will never know sadly. But it is a fact that Tolkiend described them as a perfect in every way including Warfare which includes Sieges and as Walkure and Fredius pointed out,one needs diversity and yet the Elves had their own style and touch to the things. Their Siege Machines may ahve been more Comnplex or Magic Enchanced or something like it but a fact remains solid and that is that they had Siege Weapons and not Elves with Trmendous Magic Power like Mages to destroy Fortresses or lay Siege.
Therefore I find the Edain Catapult and its Special Ammo althoug I do not know what it is,very suitable and apropriate for the High Elves of Imladris and their Vast Knowledge and Expirience! :)
i think it's beautiful... many thanks to Edain team :)
Brutal AI are extremely offensive but could they be super defensive to? Like i would like to try to do a siege on minas thrit or helm deep aigainst a AI !
