(REQUIRES RUSSIAN VERSION OF THE GAME) This is a freeplay mod for Shadow of Chernobyl with fantastic graphics and visual style (You must have the Russian version of the game for it to work). I did not create this mod though I did add a few optional changes to UI and textures as well as a SweetFX filter to polish it up a bit and make it a bit more visually consistent. I've uploaded this to ModDB as I found it quite difficult to download this mod for myself on any of the Russian sites, so I thought I'd do everyone a favour.

The mod adds...
- The ability to play as one of several different factions.
- New and altered quests.
- Modified maps.
- New NPC's.
- Increased enemy and NPC spawns (have you ever fought two Bloodsuckers at the Cordon?)
- Greatly enhanced graphics and audio.
- Etc.

Installation is simple, just drag and drop the "gamedata" and "bin" folders into your main ShoC folder (requires Russian version).
I highly recommend you run the game in "Objects Dynamic Lighting" mode as the "Full Dynamic Lighting" mode is incredibly taxing for some reason (for me at least).
All credit goes to the original mod developers- Bit.ly
TKGP for translating the mod- Bit.ly
and Autumn Aurora 2- Bit.ly
which I took a few elements from.
UPDATE: I've decided to upload the original mod files and and keep the personal changes I made as an optional installation.
As I said in the summary, I've decided to upload the original mod files and keep my personal changes as a separate download.
Nothing in particular pressured me to make this decision, I guess I just didn't feel right about people downloading someone else's work with my own small changes as the default. You can still play the original upload, nothing has changed, this is just a different way to download the mod.
These are just some personal changes I made to improve some of the UI, texture and music elements. Entirely optional.
This is the English patch for Echo of Chernobyl 2 by TKGP.
(REQUIRES RUSSIAN VERSION OF GAME) This is the default, un-updated mod from "stalkermod.ru".
This mod would be more popular if it didn't require a specific version of stalker SoC to run.
Shame it has to go that way.
Any info on the soundtrack?
Does this work with the USA Version of STALKER SOC ? Is there anyway to make this work with the USA version ? Where can I pick up the Russian Version of STALKER SOC ? I want to play this, but alas , I am a lowly American STALKER . :-(
aren't there cumulative patches 3 and 4 beta? i remember on ap-pro (i think) there were some yadisk links, but they're dead now. maybe you could find those patches?
Maybe, I'll have a look.
thank you.
The fov and hud fov changers in bin folder have no effect in game when I change and apply them, waiting for a fix.
Other Russian Mods sometimes have an English patch or something with it. I don't know if that would be possible in this instance but tracking anyway. Just in case. It's a shame. The mod looks really nice.
I bundled the English translation by TKGP along with it, so you don't have to worry about that. It does still require a Russian version of ShoC though but that's easy enough to obtain.
So, I installed it on my Steam version of Stalker.
When I try to start it, the game instantly crashes..
I tried it without the Bin Folder you included. It works, but my HUD looks a bit weird (No Ammo counter, no Minimap for example).. may could be cause my Res is 1680x1050?
After what I seen yet, I really wanna give this mod a chance!
That's strange that the game crashes with the "bin" folder, I tried the mod on a different system and it worked fine so I'm not sure what is going on there, it might be the SweetFX, are you running the Russian version of the game? As for the HUD, its supposed to look like that, the original mod from the Russian site didn't have a minimap or ammo-counter and had this ugly unnecessary "Clear Sky style" texture around the health and stamina bars so I removed it (it was purely decorative and served no purpose trust me). Don't worry about your monitor resolution (I use 1680x1050 too), I may upload a "patch" of sorts sometime in the future to fix the wonky health and stamina bars though so keep an eye out.
Yes, I do use the Russian version of Stalker.
For the Hud, I somehow guessed its part of the mod after seeing through files^^''
I will keep looking in the mod, hoping with the stock ShoC bin will work good
Yah sorry if the HUD bothers you, it just didn't bother me so I didn't bother changing it, I like more minimal HUD's anyway but different strokes for different folks I guess. As for the "bin" folder goes it may have something to do with Steam, for some reason I din't think to test it with a Steam version so I'll look into that.
