This project is a fan recreation of Doom 64 for the Nintendo 64 to the GZDoom engine. The goal of the project is be mostly accurate to the original game as well as add very minor improvements for that extra bit of polish. Think of this mod as being an enhanced version of Doom 64 for GZDoom. We have Doom 64 EX, Doom 64 Absolution TC, GZDoom64, and Brutal Doom 64. Why you ask? I was personally dissatisfied with the quality of the GZDoom64 project, and Brutal Doom 64 (while it is a great improvement) is along the same lines but changes too much and deviates from the original Doom 64 experience. And thus, this project was born.
I am not the original author of this fantastic megawad. I just modified it to work with the Doom64 Retribution gameplay mod. All traps and exits will work as (most of them) the custom enemies. A few enemies had to be replaced because of the way they spawned (and thus causing trouble with Doom64 RTR).
Wow, nice :D
How do i run an add-on correctly?
I put the file in a folder "Doom64 Retribution" and make a new batch file:
start gzdoom.exe -file D64RTR[v1.5].WAD STRG_for_D64RTR.WAD
Add-on starts - but the weapon does not work correctly.
What should I write in a batch file?
Its about the loading order. And more important: You need to put the gameplaymod after the mapset itself. You it should look like that (given you use the Doom64-PSX addon too). Beware, this is linux commandline but it should not be differ a lot from a windows commandline:
gzdoom -file STRG_for_D64RTR.wad Doom64-Psx.pk3 D64RTR15GMPc.wad
or
gzdoom -file STRG_for_D64RTR.wad Doom64-Psx.pk3 D64RTRCPVWF[v1.5].WAD
In case you are using proerd888's mod :)
If you are using some visual starter just check that you load the mapset FIRST and then AFTER that the mods of your choice. That will override the weapons of the mappack and... voila it should be fine. :)
Thanks for the quick response.
To use the addon requires a different mod "Doom64 Retribution 1.5 Gamplay Mod"- in your text description of the addon is not clear. It's bad that there is no installation manual and a simple user will have a lot of questions.
With your hint addon works correctly, new batch file:
start gzdoom.exe -file STRG_for_D64RTR.wad Doom64-Psx.pk3 D64RTR15GPMc.wad
The picture seems very dark, it probably changes gamma.
I love doom64 (EX and Retribution) and thanks for the opportunity to go through a new set of maps!
As default the Doom64-PSX.pk3 is set to sector light mode --> "Dark". Which, I agree, is way too dark (I think Ill change its defaults with the next release). However that darkness can be fixed. Menu:
Display options --> Open Gl Renderer --> sector lightmode
Set the lightmode to any lightmode -except- "dark" (which is way to dark). I prefer legacy "lightmode".
And voila it has some Doom64EX appeal without being sooooo very dark :)
With the next release Ill ad a suggestion for the commandline and fix a few defaults :)
Edit: I just added commandline suggestions to the file description :)
The Chainsaw bobing is broken in iddle, only correts when in use/firing
