You seem to miss the meaning of "Beta". Saying something is well polished before release is naive (unless you posses a real QA team). With some features missing as you said the more appropriate term would be "Alpha".

Well, it's an open Beta. I initially wanted to label this as pre-release, but with the small amount of things that have been removed to get it out earlier as well as the final release being planned months from now, I didn't feel confident labelling it as such.

With this being a mostly but not fully completed version that I'm releasing for feedback, I think the "Beta" designation is accurate enough, or at least the one that is closest to the state of this version. I know that Alpha traditionnaly refers to anything that is not fully featured, but as far as game dev goes, the terminology that is commonly used and recognized by the players is different, so I'll probably stick to it (even if it's an abuse of language).

Saying something is well polished before release is naive (unless you posses a real QA team).

I wouldn't necessarily call it naive to say that something is well-tested and as a result well polished when said testing has been done on a mostly static version for a full year (which is without counting another year and a half of active development). Now, to be fair, I did also have a small handful of people testing previous builds for me.

We'll see what happens, but I only expect minor issues to be reported this time around. You're free to write me "told ya so" in capital letters if this release turns out to be not quite as free of bugs as I'm making it out to be. :D

Didn't expect such a lengthy reply. I didn't imply that you don't have a QA team, I was mostly nit-picking about the terminology. It depends on how much features you are missing from the final release. If all major planned features are in the public beta, then it does justify the name.

Description

I won't have much time to work on Redux for the rest of August, so I'm releasing the Beta a bit earlier than expected ! It's currently uploading and should be available today.

As previously mentionned, Redux 2.0 is already well-polished, so you shouldn't encounter much issues with this test version. However, some features and assets haven't been included due to them not being fully completed.

This is still a major leap over 0.95b, but there's enough missing that I'll recommend you wait for the proper release in late 2019 unless you are in a hurry to replay Doom 3 or you want to help by tracking small issues.
