Redux is a large-scale modification that attempts to modernize Doom 3 with a massive overhaul of the graphical, sound and UI aspects of the game along with bug fixes, restored content and new features.
The 2.0 beta test has been going well, so while I've been busy lately, I'm now slowly starting to prepare the final release that's still planned for the (very) end of the year.
One of the more common requests was to add ultrawide support, which is included in the dhwem 3 source port but wasn't accessible when using Redux with it (due to the way the mod handles the resolution setting). In 2.0 Stable however, I will add better support for dhwem 3's features including togglable Aspect ratio correction and selectable ultrawide resolutions for both 21:9 and 32:9 displays. The main HUD will be stretched considerably, but the rest of the UI including the crosshair will be displayed in its original 4:3 format when using aspect ratio correction. I'll also include pre-scaled assets for the HUD that should display correctly even in 32:9 where it's possible.
The remaining things to do are :
- Convert some of the UI assets for 16:10 support
- Making new loading screens for all aspect ratios
- Making a compatibility patch for the Doom 3 Fixed Edition Mod
- Finalizing the remaining half of the revamped audiologs pack
- Finalizing the compatibility patch for the Phrozo Particles 2 Mod (Sikkmod version)
I've also been making a few minor texture sets since the release of the Beta, but that part is now pretty much locked until the final release.
