Not to be confused with the other DOOM 2 Redux, DOOM 2 Redux is a modest remaster of the original DOOM 2 for ZDOOM family source ports. Don't expect too much, this isn't Ultimate DOOM 2 or anything, this was made by me as a passion project. Imagine this like DOOM 2 if ID had quality assurance.
Current Status: Cancelled. -realized this idea is beyond my capabilities -I am more interested in making my own work instead of improving somebody else's work from decades ago -felt I would get into issues with the mini-mods I inserted -this isn't totally cancelled and I may come back another day but this is the end for now
Changes: levels are being recreated to look more polished and play at least a little better, Weapons have tweaked sprites and sounds, the demon blood colors are different from demon to demon, Icon of Sin has been replaced with the Mother Demon, and sprites have been tweaked to remove any problems caused by oversights. (Listed as each change is added)
Credits: dDefinder on MODDB for the gun sounds, ReaperGuyB1 on MODDB for the gloves on fists, Nevander on DOOM World for ZDOOM blood fixer+, Revenant100 on DOOM World for the minor sprite fixing, DTDSphere on the ZDOOM forums for the responsive weapons, HorrorMovieRei on the ZDOOM forums for the Mother Demon, SoniK.O.Fan on the ZDOOM Forums for the BFG sprites, and of course myself for the new maps, some weapon sprites, and DOOM-guy's tweaked face.
Technical info: Tested with GZDOOM 4.11.3, Maps are vanilla DOOM 2 format, this is NOT to be played with other mods, and I used the DOOM 2 IWAD.

Great project, although with few thing, that might have gone better.
My first and biggest wish is to play this mod merged with Beautiful Doom 7.1.6. The functionalities and smoothness of BD7.1.6 are just that huge step.
However, the sounds in Doom 2 Redux are so tasty and crunchy - I just love them!
Some maps could have been done better to add more space and unlinearity (i miss the outdoor section from the MAP05 and I think both that lattice wall in MAP02 and switch puzzle in MAP01 are bizzare at best).
Hoping to see some fixes soon <3
Interesting! I am following this project. To avoid confusion with the other Doom 2 Redux, I would suggest renaming this to "Doom II Revised", "Doom II Revision" or "Doom II 2.0".
What happened to the Pistol, though?
EDIT: Okay, so I played through the first nine levels. My main issue with the project so far (the puzzling lack of pistol aside) is that while the maps might look better, they have become much more linear and cramped - and as such much less interesting gameplaywise. In many ways, it reminds me of the contrast between Quake and Chasm: The Rift in terms of level design.
Firstly, the pistol was removed because of how it was just useless once you get the super shotgun. Secondly, I do agree with the problem of the maps being a bit cramped, I need to fix that. Thirdly, I only realized recently that I should add exploration into the maps. But I am struggling with figuring out how to implement it, I think I should add the option of exploration while still making the main path straight-forward, maybe when you do explore, you would get goodies as a reward for looking deeper. Should I do that?
