Call of The Zone is a standalone modification for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. – Call of Pripyat that allows you to explore the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone – a desolate and highly contaminated region of Ukraine that has been abandoned and closed off for decades ever since the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. What has been going on in this irradiated wasteland since then? There are no shortage of rumors and conspiracy theories, each more fantastic than the last. Rumors of mutated wildlife, brainwashed cults, secret experiments, and unexplainable paranormal events abound, as do promises of great riches and wildest dreams coming true for those who are daring or desperate enough to try to break through the cordon. You are about to find out for yourself what is true and what is yet undiscovered, and experience for yourself all the Zone has to offer... or to take from you.

Please adhere to the following guidelines when submitting an addon to avoid having your work removed:

- Include the CoTZ version number your addon is made for in square brackets in the title, for example: "My Kickass Addon [CoTZ 1.0]". Call of The Zone will be updated periodically, and this will help the end users know which version they can install it on.

- Upload your files to the "Addons" section of the Call of The Zone page, do not upload them to the "Files" section. The "Files" section is only for core CoTZ files and patches. Anything in the "Files" section that was not uploaded by me will be removed.

- Keep your addon updated as patches for CoTZ are released. I will officially recommend users uninstall previous addons when they install new patches, so they will be counting on you to release an updated version of your addon as well. If there were no changes in the patch that affected your addon, you can just update the title to include the current CoTZ version number. I will probably prune outdated addons after a while if they no longer work with recent CoTZ versions and the author hasn't made any recent attempts to update it.

- Please don't call something a "fix" if it is just a subjective rebalancing. If you have identified an actual technical error in CoTZ and developed a solution for it, contact me directly for possible inclusion into the base game. Also, don't call your addon "official" or otherwise try to make it appear like it is something I have endorsed or supported, or that it is a core component of CoTZ. The only CoTZ files that I officially support are the ones that I have uploaded.

- Don't compress your files in to .db form, this will make it less compatible with other addons and prevent users from being able to easily merge files if they need to.

- Please refrain from uploading joke mods. We have an entire internet full of STALKER memes already. If your addon does not contain any substantive content and is determined to just be a joke or a meme, it will be removed once I feel the joke has run its course.

- Don't attempt to rip material from a major label game and try to port it into CoTZ. Have a great weapon skin that you love in COD? Awesome. Enjoy it in COD, we're playing STALKER over here. Most of these assets have strict IP protections that will prohibit you from redistributing them without the expressed written consent of the publisher anyway.

- If you are modifying or re-uploading someone else’s work, please reach out to the original author first and make sure to credit them properly.

- Take ownership of your submission, even if you didn't create it. "I'm just re-uploading this here, I don't take any credit or responsibility for it" is not a valid disclaimer. If you are uploading an addon that someone else created or that you modified to work with CoTZ, it is expected that you are knowledgeable and capable enough with it to answer questions from the community, keep it maintained and updated as necessary, and have the authorization to do so.

- Always be sure to keep a backup copy of your submission. ModDB should not be considered cloud storage and your addon could be deleted by me or ModDB for any number of reasons, and we do not keep backup copies of your work.

Don't let the above guidelines seem overbearing, nor are they intended to scare you off from submitting an addon. The are, for the most part, just common-sense guidelines that will ensure the community gets the maximum enjoyment from your work as possible.

Good luck with your addon and feel free to make a post with any questions you have while you are developing it. There is a severe lack of documentation for modding STALKER but you have an entire community right here that is more than willing to help you!
