Improves combat, movement and weapon handling - chew bubblegum and kick ass! (bubblegum not included)
Mahzra's Gameplay Overhaul, The Zone Next Door, Dead Air Spatial Sound and Reverb, HollywoodFX (patched for MGO) - a light install :D
This is the "core engine" as it were of my modpacks. It improves on a number of what I would call low-level gameplay interactions. Your boots on the ground. The weapon in your hand. The impact of hot lead on your armor. The rats gnawing on your ankles. It accelerates moment to moment gameplay and slows down overall character development.
The concept behind this overhaul is to give Call of The Zone a more visceral, action-oriented and fast-paced shooter experience. It's tuned to give the player many close calls but encourages pushing through challenges instead of reloading save games. I've tried to the best of my ability to prevent situations where the player feels all is lost, gives up and F9's. It's more likely you'll go down guns blazing.
The economy, mission rewards, dropped and random loot are balanced to be rewarding, but not overly generous. Missions should not be a chore, they should be satisfying and worth the effort to complete.
Install cosmetic addons if you like, but I would prioritize smooth gameplay over fancy graphics or effects. This is not an immersion or survival overhaul, it's a shooter.
Recommended for play on Stalker or Veteran difficulty at a solid 60 fps.

UPDATED April 21st, 2023 - A lot of stuff.
A recent comment made me realize this addon was going down the same track as my first package. Little changes requiring a lot of work for the player. No more.
I have added all the pieces that I feel are required to get the full Mahzra's Package experience, just with vanilla items. I suppose this is my Vanilla Plus Edition now. For you, the players, at least. For me this is just Vanilla. :D
Hi mahzra firstly thanks for continuing the good doctors work I appreciate you, secondly is this compatible with arsenal overhaul 3.0 just wondering cause I like the guns ao3 adds and I'd like to keep em around if possible. Ty in advance!
Bullet Time is bound to middle-click. If you'd like to change that, install the Bullet Time addon and change the bound key in the script.
Hi, I installed in this order
> Comunity update 1
> Comunity update 2
> Smurth LilGABE
> Smurth No critical hit effects
> smurth no blackouts after medical
> smurth multiuse lighter medkits
> Combat Module
> FWR
> FWR Improvement patch
and the game crash when the player do an animation of Smurth Lilgabe

Sorry for the late reply, for some reason ModDB doesn't notify me when someone posts a first comment to addons.
I will add Smurth, FWR, FWRIP and some other bits and pieces to this addon so it's a complete combat package, something I should have done in the first place anyway. Should be up later this week.
EDIT: Mega.nz
This is my current CoTZ CU2 installation packed in database files. Only requires CoTZ v1.2 with Community Pack 2. Includes TRX sound, my GUI, my HUD, bullet time, Smurth LILGabe hybrid, FWR with the improvement patch, and a few absolutely immersion shattering things you'll just have to live with until I repack this addon, as well as some surprises.
This is provided absolutely without warranty and very limited support. You'll see why. Have fun, though!
EDIT 2: if it crashes upon death, install this. Moddb.com
If you want to change the bullet time key, install the bullet time addon on top of this. I actually forget what I mapped it to. I think it was the middle mouse button.
Hi, I was the one who wrote before creating my account, after that message I found out that community pack 1 was not necessary, so I removed it, but I still had the compatibility problem between FWR and Smurth but I solved it by not overwriting the file from smurth's rg6 grenade launcher to the one from FWR since then I've played without interruptions, at that moment I was going to edit the comment to explain it but it didn't leave the page, right now I've been reading your answer thanks anyway I'll try that one at another time database that you sent since I have not downloaded TRX by myself.
Glad you got it working, have fun!
I loved the new update a lot, it surprised me how it went from 4mb to 400mb haha, personally the only problem I found was that for some reason it took me a long time to start a new game, and I also had lag but I solved it with a COP weather addon. It optimized the game perfectly and it didn't take me long to load an old game, but with the previous version the addon was not necessary to make it run at the same speed, I could continue using the previous version as an alternative, but I really liked this update and already I made it playable, what could be causing this performance hit?
Huh, it's weird that it would cause a performance drop. I made sure not to include any cosmetic stuff, specifically to keep this addon as light as possible. A new game taking a while to start is not too surprising, that's actually quite normal, but as far as performance in-game is concerned it should run the same as the previous version really.
A few things you could try:
- run the game with the -no_staging and -dbg options (this is pretty much mandatory for CoTZ in general)
- copy the user.ltx from your original installation's appdata folder (just to make sure the settings are actually identical)
- delete the appdata\shader_cache folder
The game will often struggle after you enter a new area for the first time, processing NPCs and mutants and whatnot, but generally it will settle down after a minute. I'm honestly unsure what could cause a significant performance drop. The addon's ten times the size of the original, but it's all stuff you had installed separately before. There's still barely anything in it! (hah, perspective is everything. this contains about 20 addons, so counting the addons in Community Update 2 that adds up to about 40 addons in total compared to vanilla?)
EDIT: It just occurred to me that there is one difference between this version and the last that I didn't even bother to list. I raised the activation switch distance from 450 meters to 750 meters. This means that more NPCs and mutants come online as you move around maps. The funny thing is that I raised this because someone reported raising this value reduces stutters.
This file reverts this value back to vanilla. Mediafire.com
Installing this may improve framerate in general, but may also increase stutters. It's a tradeoff.
EDIT 2: the reason I raised this value isn't even particularly related to performance. It's so you don't notice as often that things come online and you encounter more "what the hell happened here" situations.
EDIT 3: just out of curiosity, what NPC and mutant population are you on, and on what difficulty?
hahaha very good configuration, now that I remember during the time I spent playing if there was more activity on the part of the NPCs than before I don't know how I didn't realize I'm going to try deactivating it to see how it goes.
I play on Stalker difficulty and the npc population is at 0.5 and the mutant lowered it to 0.25, in 0.5 many came out for my taste, I prefer to kill people than these mutants even so with the new handling of weapons and speed of the character it is more fun trying to survive chimeras and pseudogiants, before it was more boring and frustrating.
P.S. I had not seen the list of updated addons before... I installed FWR, Smurth Lylgabe, Black Belves GUI, THAP, minimalist hud and MW sounds, after the MCM Package when it was unnecessary XD sorry I'm going to disable them to see if the game load improves.
You made me realize I really needed to improve the description and stuff. Thanks!
I'm pretty happy with how the overhaul turned out. It's a blast to play, if I do say so myself. :D 10/10 would create again.
Two nitpicks I personally still have are that traders and spawns need to be improved, but that's something I'm working on independently of this addon.
I disabled the addons and it fixed the performance significantly, I've been having fun for a while with that Alife change the game feels different, I wanted to download and try AO3 but I really liked this package so I temporarily discarded it, instead I'll see if I change the FWR textures I had thought to copy the style of the B&S ones from Anomaly since they combined well with THAP.
Hi, after i installed the addon im getting this crash
FATAL ERROR

This pack is meant for 16:9 resolutions and won't work right on 4:3 or 16:10. I will be brutally honest and admit I decided early on to not bother with 4:3 and 16:10 resolutions unless someone indicated they need it. These resolutions are just not very common these days.
Mediafire.com
This file will correct the crash you mentioned. After you get into the game, let me know if the HUD is broken. I may need to fix that as well.
Okay, the game works with that fix but as you said, the hud is broken, specifically, the hud doesnt render at all
Mediafire.com
Sorry for the delay. Could you see if this restores the default hud?
EDIT: goes in gamedata\textures\ui.
sorry for the very, very late reply, just got super burned out about stalker and forgot about it, fortunately i could just slap the cop hud port and it works flawlessly, sorry again, however i have another question, its intended that the condition of weapons doesnt decrease? and, do you plan on update this pack with newer qol addons and/or new weapons?
edit: with new weapons i just mean vanilla stalker like stuff from the latest COP FWR version or Legend returns
Played through the main storyline using this addon and had no glitches or crashes.
Okay, I lie, there were glitches and crashes but none were due to this addon. :D
Glitches: obtained an extra Technician's Tools somehow, and I had to reload a save to get the War Labs access card to spawn.
Crashes: The occasional 0KB log crash after reloading or fast-traveling too often.
COOL another repack!
keep them coming!
Two questions: is hollywoodfx included in this package? For your mutant and stalker spawns, do you have suggestions or should I use the numbers listed on your old repack?
Thanks!
Is there a way for me to remove THAP from this? I personally think it doesn't mesh well the with gun models.
Edit: The mod says to install over CU2. Does 3 work fine as well?
This works fine with CU3 as well, yeah.
As for THAP, that's kind of a trickier one unless you're comfortable extracting database files. I'll see if I can upload the vanilla hands for you, maybe tomorrow.
If it isn’t too much to ask. I really appreciate it! Also, thanks for the info on CU3.
