Fast Mind: While using inventory, time will slow down.
This is a port of an optional option of Playable Third Person Camera - PTP addon from Anomaly.
FAST MIND
Searching the inventory in real time during a confrontation is usually difficult, in those few seconds
that you spent searching for not wanting to make a mistake by taking another object accidentally, you will
already be swallowing enemy bullets or a bloodsucker will be kissing you, now
with this little relantization saves you this small problem.
For me it's something immersive, it's like looking for your keys in your pants, you know
where they are and it doesn't take long to find them.
I actually added it to CoTZ because I was used to having it in Anomaly
I hope you enjoy this addon.
Reading this is optional
This Addon took me about a month to do because I don't know anything about scripts, I wanted
to do it on my own and learn that way but the truth is that I didn't think I'd learn anything LOL,
after getting so frustrated for more than half of the month I asked Mahzra for help which he accepted
and gave me ideas, but when I was about to send him the script I had been working on I wanted to make
a few more attempts... until I surprisingly succeeded and by luck it worked the way Mahzra gave me ideas,
for me it was satisfying to do it this way, I like challenges but right now I'm not sure I want
to port another script in my life... maybe I don't know.
How it works
- Does not slow down when checking staches or corpses: this is because you don't know what's inside.
- Does not slow down when opening the PDA: this is because you interact with it in real time like a phone.
- Only slows down when opening inventory: even if you open the inventory and on top of the PDA the effect is canceled.
Compatible with everything and does not require a new game.
Credits
Detron by the script I extracted to make it work in CoTZ
Mahzra for the ideas of the How it Works section.
Awesome man! I love that you didn't give up, I know how frustrating it can be to work with scripts.
yes it is, I had to unzip the CoTZ base scripts to guide myself better, but I couldn't find anything until yesterday I thought to search again and EUREKA! for a code that has to do with opening inventory and it worked perfectly!!
well, you've made THE classic & imo essential programming experience: torturing yourself for hours-days-..? BUT SOMEWHEN...you will solve it and the moment of "LOL IT FCKING WORKS BUGFREE!!!" is the ****** each coder knows and hunts through his career :)
well done, man.
about the addon, not tested it yet, but...shouldn't it be rather vice-versa? I mean, grabbing, searching and using(!) some items leads to *loss* of time (f.e. tourist breakfast; general use of medkits IN COMBAT(!))... you know what I mean? I like f.e. how SGM2.2 handles it - medkits lead to hiding of your weapon for 1-2 sec which makes it far more realistic than...everything I played (including the vanillas)
Woud like to hear your and Mahzra's opinion about that.
Still, I am studying your work/changes in the game's scripts regularly - you're a coder the STALKER community needs :)
Thanks for the compliment hehe, I usually modify a lot of games that I like so I jump between them from time to time, I would like to contribute a lot more here, just that I am short on knowledge and I did not conclude some ideas, I hope to return to them soon since I still have them consider
About the addon I think you mean the usage time of consumables, I do not modify that, this addon works like the weapon wheel of GTA V but in the inventory, I hope you like it.
Good job :)
Thank you! enjoy the addon.
The dark blurred background would work really well with a entirely transparent inventory, actually. Just white lines. It'd be the cleanest, most minimal thing.
HMMMMM.
EDIT: braindead.
what a good idea, with a cleaner GUI it would only be a matter of coding the blur effect to the loot menu, merchants and upgrades.
Edit: Incredible I don't know about .ppe files I would have never imagined that it could be done that sounds great.
The problem with making the inventory transparent is that dialog windows would show through it. Maybe there's a way to temporarily move dialog windows off-screen while the inventory is open? Then there would be nothing between the merchant and the inventory but the blur effect.
I sent you a message about it.
Cool! But it takes me a while to check my items stats
POV: You just spending much time to Fallout
