manuel instalation for steam and non steam version
1. download the patch use winrar to open the contents then place all of it in deusex main folder
2.download this file and open it with winrar agian there wil be a textures map put it in the revision map of the patch
3 copy your deusex.exe and rename it revision.exe either change the revisiondefault.ini in your system folder to revision.ini or copy the revisiondefault.ini and paste it agian and rename it revision.ini
4. run revision.exe and enjoy
for hdtp and new vision if you look at the paths of the revision.ini if you made its revisiondefault.ini but renamed you see that you need to have hdtp and new vision installed inside the revision map thats why it crashes if you have new vision and hdtp ticked on which elizacassan has the isue with because if you install new vision and hdtp they have a folder in the main map of deusex
here is the fix for that open the revision.ini go look for the lines
Paths=..\Revision\NewVision\Textures\*.utx
Paths=..\Revision\HDTP\Textures\*.utx
Paths=..\Revision\HDTP\System\*.u
change to
Paths=..\NewVision\Textures\*.utx
Paths=..\HDTP\Textures\*.utx
Paths=..\HDTP\System\*.u
save the ini
also if im understanding this right some have isues with cd aka drm wel unreal game are stupidly easy to crack all you have to do is open the revision.ini that you created and go to CdPath= its empty so it wil ask for cd but if you did the full install of deusex all you have to do is change it to CdPath=..\ and tada your copy of deusex works without cd or anything

What file? And what do you mean 'revision map of the patch'?
Following those steps to bypass having to be connected to a Steam account with a legitimate Steam-licensed copy of the game likely constitutes copyright infringement, however.
Since when? It's a legit copy. Being forced to connect to Steam (for no other reason that to annoy you) has nothing to do with the game or content being legit or not. Besides the IP doesn't belong to Steam in the first place. They only have a distribution permission.

It looks similar to the latest version no. from the steam release.
I've installed the patch, and the game itself runs fine. But I'm still encountering the no music error. All sound effects and dialogue works fine, there is simply no soundtrack (original or new).
I thought one of the previous patches was supposed to address this issue?
i don't understand the installation instructions... i just had the GOG version, added the mod a few months ago... now i add the patch... and where do i look for any change like version of the mod ? to know if it installed properly. and there is still no MUSIC for me :( how to fix this ? :(

Please, post the GOG-friendly installer of the latest version of Revision here on ModDB. The Steam version is on both Steam and ModDB, but many people need the DRM-free version.

In my case, I already have GOG version and I don't want to buy it again to install the DLC.
What's the trouble with just getting it through GOG? We are forced to make sure Revision is only playable on legitimate copies of Deus Ex. Having the DRM:ed version here requires that you have it on Steam to work, or you can get the non-DRM:ed version through GOG. The alternative thing would be to only have it on Steam and GOG and nothing on moddb, and I'm sure you can all agree that having the DRMed version here is better than nothing.
Oh, if that's the reason, I'm completely OK woth that. I thought you could post it with GoG verification.
It's just that to get it on GoG I have to re-buy the game with the new account, so I cannot pass Steam verification with the game I have already.
Why would you have to re-buy the Deus Ex GOTY if you already have it on GOG? Revision is listed under More -> Other on the Deus Ex GOTY library entry in GOG Galaxy.
I boughtt the game on GoG previously, and I didn't need GoG so I removed it; I still have the game on my PC however.
Can you tell me if I can install this patch over any previous patch, or I need the first release version 1.0?

Ok. So here is a clean up of the steps to get Revision to work on non-steam installs.
Step One
Download both the Revision steam installer and the patch

Step Two
Extract both zip files.
Step Three
From the files extracted from the patch, open Content_Patch.wim as an archive and extract all files to the Deus Ex main folder.
Step Four
From the files extracted from the steam installer, open Content_Stock.wim as an archive and extract all files to the Deus Ex main folder.
Step Five
From the files extracted from the steam installer, open Content_Steam.wim as an archive and extract the RevisionDefault.ini from the "system" folder to the Deus Ex/System folder.
Step Six
Copy and rename the DeusEx.exe to Revision.exe and RevisionDefault.ini to Revision.ini
Step Seven
Edit the Revision.ini changing these lines
Paths=..\..\Music\*.umx
Paths=..\..\Sounds\*.uax
Paths=..\..\Textures\*.utx
Paths=..\..\Maps\*.dx
Paths=..\..\System\*.u
to
Paths=..\Music\*.umx
Paths=..\Sounds\*.uax
Paths=..\Textures\*.utx
Paths=..\Maps\*.dx
Paths=..\System\*.u
