Contra is a freeware modification for Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour real-time strategy game and one of the first mods for this game. It adds many new units as well as numerous new upgrades, new general's powers and buildings. It also adds new sounds, maps, bug fixes, enhanced graphics, and other effects, as well as three new generals.
Defense cores are special vehicle units for Super Weapon general, which can be produced from Command Center. From left to the right, Patriot, Ion and Grendel. As we saw in video, they can be deployed in their respective defense structures. Their cost is equal to defense structure and half of the Dozer price. In balance order, they are vulnerable, and especially in deploying phase which takes around 7 seconds. Defense cores are great at reducing micro, and capturing more zones on map. Carrying them by Chinook and deploying multiple at the same time, is much easier than building each structure with one Dozer.
Here comes the turret rush!
Introducing the new strategy: The Aggressive Turtle.
It wont be easy as you imagine it :)
SW Ion Plants provide low amount of energy. So, to sustain your cores attack, and to defend your base you would need dozen of power plants.
One unit which sneaks into your base, like dragon tank, or thor, or technical with rpg, can be the end for you when it starts burning Ion Plants.
Will there be some changes in that regard ?
Ion Plants are really an Achille's heel. They are fragile and provide very low amount of power. Makes it mandatory to spam these, causing sometimes massive slowdowns.
Or what could be an alternative is that "mobile" versions could be sightly weaker, but cost less power (or even no power at all).
Well, you cant have everything. SW power plants are made to be cheap, and fast so you can capture more important map points. But, yes, you need to constantly work on your power in order to sustain all defenses and Centurion tanks. This is balance wise.
But one does not simply use one dozer to build like 10 defense structures
But i get the idea, me likey :D
I saw the similar unit from Red Alert 3. Did you get the idea from that?
i bet they got inspiration from the "Nano-Core Construction" mechanic that used by the Empire of the Rising Sun from Red Alert 3
