NOTE: This is a very old version of Classic Faction. It is no longer supported, and is not nearly as accurate as Red Faction Classic.

Original Description:

Classic Faction is a gameplay mod for Red Faction (PC) that makes the game play more like its PS2 counterpart, and "ports" over all PS2 exclusive multiplayer characters. All the weapons function like their PS2 counterparts (mostly), and it's compatible with both Singleplayer and Multiplayer!

How exactly are the weapons different? I wasn't aware of the differences between the PS2 and PC version.

There may be more, but from what I remember the Rocket Launcher fires slightly faster, and the alt-fire for the Auto Shotgun is WAY faster. There are also subtle differences with some entities. Capek has less health for example.

Only downsides are that the Precision Rifle is slightly less accurate and you can carry slightly less grenades.

You can add the PS2 menu to the PC version?

Would it be possible to have bots too?,Since the PS2 version has multiplayer bots and it was just fun and mayhem.

I'd do it if I could, but I can't.

Some people have made bots though, some servers have them. But none are publicly released for everyone to use yet.

Check out the Oddbots server.

Thanks for replying though. It's a shame that there aren't any bot mods for RF1 and not many games these days have multiplayer bots. I had tons of fun fighting against bots on the PS2 version of Red faction and was very surprised to see the PC version lacked it.

Me too. But hey, maybe someday soon those bots will get released. I do know they aren't ready for a public release, it's hard to get bots released in the format that would be easy for everyone to use.

PS2 version didn't have real multiplayer and behave more like singleplayer maps with modified AI bots and split-screen capabilities. It would be more or less possible to convert multiplayer maps to work in singleplayer mode, but having real bots in multiplayer is better. I'm guessing bots used on those servers are unreleased, because they're made by using multiple game clients with injected code.
