The Classic Doom 3 modification is a remake of the original 1993 Doom game, by id Software, in Doom 3. The main emphesis is that of brining the older game up to date in a modern graphics engine. The project makes use of all of Doom 3's advanced graphical features while retaining the atmosphere of the original game.
This mod only works with the original retail release of Doom 3, patched to version 1.3.1. This mod does not currently work with the Doom 3 BFG Edition. Some BFG source ports are available that reportedly work with this mod, but are untested.
The project is complete, and only includes the shareware levels due to many reasons that include the following:
The latest build is version 1.3.1 and is the final version that we plan to release. This version is numbered 1.3.1 to reflect the fact that it has been tested to work with Doom 3 patch release 1.3.1, and thus works both with Doom 3 on steam and windows vista.

The process behind creating the documentary involved a long proces of digital archaeology, search for artefacts that existed on the internet 15-20 years ago. This has been a long term project that looked at the original Classic Doom 3 mod project point releases, while also uncovering internal development builds, the reviving of an archived version of the original development forum, and looking at various news articles from the time of release.
Classic Doom 3 is a completed modification for the original Doom 3 retail release and requires the game to be patched to version 1.3.1, availabe here on moddb:
