As I've mentioned in the past, Canada's Revenge was abandoned long ago. I learned a few skills from that small project of mine that I've spent some time refining (namely, how to build a fun singleplayer experience).
I've spent a lot of time plotting, planning, and organizing a new group. We founded Blue Isle Studios last summer and are now ready to show our new project!
Head on over to the new project page to check out our total conversion modification for StarCraft II.
Hey guys, everything is coming along really nicely so far with the missions! The missions are at a stage where they really need to be tested for outside feedback. What I'd need you to do is play through a mission, and tell me what you think. Was it too hard, too easy? Was it fun? What would you change? How would you improve it? etc. etc. Additionally, I'd need you to look for bugs in the missions.
You will be testing the missions only, the versions I send will not be including any of the new Canadian specific units yet! (as they are still WIP's). Tester's of all skill levels are welcome, ideally I'd have 3-4 guys to help me out.
If you are interested in helping out, either send me a PM or drop a message here with an e-mail I can contact you at. Many thanks!
-Alex
Showing off the first two models for the game, the Pill Box and the CN Tower.
Sample briefing document from the first mission of the campaign, Alaska.
The first of many updates. I plan to update regularly in the coming weeks and months, stay tuned!
Are there any news on this?
Nice mod
DEAD
So, you leave a mod you barely worked on, to move to a game with less competition, that is also easier? or am I missing some shift?
To say that he barely worked on it isn't entirely true. From the modding perspective, possibly. But he did send me the Canada's Revenge maps, and I can see that he put a lot of effort into those. Also, right now, SC2 does have a large group of mods and stuff, but not on ModDB. Lastly, the fact that SC2 is easier to mod is EA's fault. They barely put any support into the mod community, despite the fact it's one of the things saving the C&C franchise. In addition, Blizzard has plans for a map/mod market, giving them extra incentive.
Originally, Alex started this mod out by himself. With project warfare, he's doing it right by starting off with a team.
Moddb.com
It's up now.
What's this? This is the last place I expected activity. What do you guys have planned?
Just a fun little teaser... we've got a pretty large project in the works for Starcraft II. I just sent in the project page for approval from moddb so hopefully in a couple of days it'll be up and running, I'll throw a link up!
Since abandoning CR I've been cooking up ideas - and building a proper mod team (so it's not just me working this time).
Hey, I sad to see you leave the C&C community and go to SC2. I feel a little betrayed, but I understand. Good luck on your mod and I hope you have fun doing it.
There are two really big advantages to using SC2 now - first off is the maps marketplace blizzard has planned.
Secondly, the modding potential of SC2 is miles ahead of the latest C&C titles (RA3, C&C4), it just gives us SO many more options and freedoms to use SC2.
You might be interested in it though, our mod for SC2 is pretty darn inspired by C&C games, as I am a massive fan.
Yeah,
IMO, it seemed a little rude by you uploading a teaser to this old page.
But bygones. Anyways, I'm kinda excited to see another total conversion mod for SC2 (That still stays in the realm of rts). Kinda sick of playing some of the custom maps by now. I was going to make a mod that turned SC2 into RA2, but I gave up on that :P
Rude was certainly not my intention!
Still awaiting approval so I can link to the real thing.
I'd say don't give up on your mod, converting entirely to RA2 might be a bit ambitious, but it doesn't hurt to try. The SC2 modding community needs more TC mods, as I haven't seen anything yet.
