Fixes some critical issues, makes getting detectors less frustrating, and various other things for a less janky out-of-the-box experience.
No further updates are likely to come to this mod, as I have switched over to playing DoctorX's Call of the Zone. I have a similar addon posted for that, which you can find here, which is much more likely to be updated and improved.
This mod makes getting detectors less frustratingly random, re-implements stash discovery on corpse loot from SoC, starts you with an Echo detector, and fixes + tweaks various other things that lead to a better vanilla experience. All the changes are basically a result of me doing my first playthrough of vanilla CoC 1.4.22 and thinking "man, I wish this was different/this was a thing". You can find the full change notes below, along with which file is responsible for said change in the parenthesis after each note. You can pick and choose which changes you'd like to use by only using the corresponding files.
I made this mod on a clean install of CoC 1.4.22, so that is all I can guarantee compatibility with. If you are asked to replace a file when installing this mod, it's probably conflicting with another mod you have installed. That said, I may update this mod from time to time as I find other things I'd like to tweak, if you guys have good suggestions, or a compatibility patch is requested for another mod.
To install: Simply extract the gamedata folder to your CoC directory as usual.
Change List
Version 1.1
In addition to all changes from 1.0:
- The money requirement for the "Heavy Pockets" achievement has been reduced from 1mil to 500,000. (dxr_achievements.script)
- The map on the PDA has been fixed to not become extremely laggy over long periods of time within a single save file while having anomalous zones showing. (pda.script) (Note that if your save is already affected by this problem, this fix will simply prevent it from getting worse on that file. The only way to fix it entirely is by starting a new game.)
- The mercenary trader will now offer Bear detectors like most other major traders. (trade_mercenary.ltx)
- Fixed the Clear Sky trader not actually having a chance to offer the Veles detector before having Heavy Pockets. Sorry about that, Clear Sky people. (trade_spore.ltx)
- Increased the chance of seeing a Veles detector in stock (before achieving Heavy Pockets) at the traders I changed to have them from 10% to 25%. (Various trade_.ltx files)
Regarding the Heavy Pockets change: In my experience, your cash begins to snowball very quickly well before the point of hitting 500k anyway. By the time you accumulate 1mil, you don't have a prayer of spending it all. This change just saves maybe a few hours of pointless grinding to get the achievement. It also allows you to potentially mitigate terrible luck with finding your own detectors earlier.
I've heard that artefact respawning wasn't happening if you somehow "skipped" an emission, such as through sleeping or level transition. Despite my best efforts to dig through the code and fix this, all signs point to this not being the case. I'll need to actually test it myself more, but I believe artefact respawning should be working completely fine in that regard. If that turns out not to be the case, I'll fix it in the next update.
Version 1.0
- The PDA relations tab is fixed to accurately show earned faction goodwill to the player. (ui_pda_relations_tab.script)
- The "Heart of the Oasis" artifact now has +1 hunger restoration again, just like in Call of Pripyat. (artefacts.ltx)
- All starting loadouts now include an Echo detector. (faction_loadouts.ltx)
- Most major traders will now always offer the Bear detector. (Various trade_.ltx files)
- Professors Hermann and Sakharov, as well as the Clear Sky, Bandit and Monolith traders will now have a
10% 25% chance to stock a Veles detector. After achieving "Heavy Pockets", they will always stock Bear, Veles, and Svarog detectors. (Various trade_.ltx files)
- Values of Bear, Veles and Svarog detectors have been increased significantly when purchasing them FROM a trader to compensate for the above changes(devices.ltx), and now always sell for 10% of their new price TO a trader. Both the buy and sell prices of detectors are still subject to the usual goodwill modifiers. (All trade_.ltx files)
- Bear: 30k
- Veles: 150k
- Svarog: 500k
- Looting human/zombie corpses for the first time has a 25% chance to spawn a random stash. It will be labelled on the map with the name of the corpse it came from. (xr_motivator.script)
- Faction patches will no longer spawn in stashes. Note that on existing saves, you may still see patches in stashes that were generated before installing this mod, but all future stash generations will not include them. (coc_treasure_manager.ltx)
- Having the "Well Dressed" achievement will now cause mutant field dressing to always yield the maximum possible harvest. (itms_manager.script) The achievement's mouseover text has been updated to reflect this. (st_achievement.xml)
- Barkeep's prices are now properly affected by Loner goodwill instead of Duty. (trade_barman.ltx)
- The "Heavy Pockets" achievement now affects all vendors instead of just your own faction. Sidorovich is not included because his stock never changes even with the achievement. (Various trade_.ltx files)
- The "Heavy Pockets" achievement will guarantee that 2 weapon and 2 outfit repair kits will be stocked at every vendor who can sell them. (Various trade_.ltx files)
- Weapon and Outfit repair kits can now repair their respective items up to full condition instead of 75% max. (items.ltx)
does it work w/ a03
I've never used AO3 personally, but I would guess you'll see some conflicts. You'll know if it conflicts if you get asked to replace any files when you install this mod. That said, I can't imagine that a mod like AO3 doesn't mess with the trader files, so I would definitely expect a conflict there.
