Chaingunner sprite replacement for Brütal DOOM 64.
CREDITS:
All credit for the sprites themselves go to the fantastic people from this
here thread on the ZDoom forums -> Forum.zdoom.org
Brütal DOOM 64 was created by Sergeant Mark IV and I take absolutely no credit
there either. Credit goes to everyone but me. If anybody has the slightest issue with
the use of these sprites by yours truly I'll take this file down. We good? We good.
WHATIS MISTER?
This zip- file contains sprite replacements for the chaingunner zombies in
Brütal DOOM 64. Originally made for personal use because the sprites from
the mod rubbed me the wrong way. There's just something about zombies
wielding M16's that drop a f#cking chaingun when you kill'em that
doesn't sit right with this here dude.
All I did was repurpose the sprites and make minor adjustments to make them
compatible with Brütal DOOM 64. I did nothing, essentially. But hey, please
enjoy my nothing.
"Man, I sure do wanna' pump some lead into those sprites. How do I get them to work?"
Simply stick the classicchaingunner64.pk3 file in your "skins" folder, that should do the trick.
both need to be in the game, they need to add the assault rifle the marines use and also have the chaingun guy
As cool as that'd be, you'd have to ask someone else to whip that up. All I've got the skillset for is spritework and a bare minimum amount of coding. But I'm sure it would be possible for someone more experienced.
Oh, and from what I understand, MarkIV's already planning to add an assault rifle to the mod in a separate game- mode. So it might not be that far off.
NEWS!
Instead of trying to work up a full goddamn redo of the BD64 revenant, I am working on giving the poor fellow already in the game full sprite rotation. Don't like Tchernobog with rocket launchers on duct- taped to his shoulders? Well I do, and I'm gonna' make him spin. Sorta'.
But what about the Shotgun Guys?
What about them? I think they're distinguishable enough as they are to be perfectly honest, seeing as the pistol on the regular zombies is fairly easy to spot. But hey, I might do a color swap pack somewhere down the line. :)
a simple suggetion, recolor the zombie suit(like the classic chaingunner) to red, and it become awesome.
As nice a change as that would make, you'll have to ask someone else for the time being. Just finished off the revenant rotations and I'm kinda' tuckered out atm. Remind me in a week or so and I might just pick up on that! ;)

Confirmed!
Here's an ingame preview of the new Revenant sprites that'll ship with the upcoming update to BD64. Hope it looks less like the Tchernobog now to the extent that people will complain less. :)
For those who still think it needs work, I am considering doing a revision where I turn the talon- like claw feet into regular ol' fleshy bone- feet. No need to do that if people are satisfied as is, but hey, if anybody wants it I'll do it. ;)
just an idea, can you palletswap the chaingunners clothes and eyes, as well as the shot gun guys clothes?
Actually working on a combo- pack which will feature more distinctive- looking zombies at the moment! At least in terms of their clothes. :)
But if you have any particulars in mind, do feel free to share them. A little input from the actual people who are going to be using my work is never a bad thing. ;)
About pistol zombies, i like the sprites, but the old rifle zombie can return. The old rifle zombie can drop the assault rifle, and pistol drop pistol(duh). The player can select both guns, you can find the best way to balance it(turn pistol in a blaster like gun, rifle and pistol share same ammo, or pistol has a especific ammo(explosive rounds?)......
The Kick should knock the Zombies and imps/nightmare imps back just like in normal Brutal Doom.
Anyway to get this compatible with GZDoom wads in general, not just brutal doom?
