Loop Mod is an addition to Black Mesa's On a Rail chapter, adding a couple areas to the very first map of the chapter. The mod reinstates the looped gameplay that was present in the original Half Life but was left out of Black Mesa, in part because the original design was deemed confusing. This issue has (hopefully) been done away with in the mod. It also reinstates three iconic areas from the original as well. The mod also fixes some design errors that were present in the original map. Comes with On a Rail Uncut compatibility.

Greetings and salutations everyone!

I hope many of you have been enjoying the recent steam release of Black Mesa! Even if Xen is still in the works, I, (hopefully!) like most of you, scooped up the game in a heartbeat. I have dug into the recesses of Hammer once more so that the experience of Loop Mod can be enjoyed in the steam version's single player mode.

You can, of course, find it here: Steamcommunity.com
Currently, the steam version of this mod is identical to the most recent version seen here on this site. There have been very few changes between both the black mesa mod's version of the stock map and the steam version's stock map (the changes that were present can be counted on two fingers).

With the steam version's workshop integration, future patches, if any, will be a cinch.

As far as On a Rail Uncut compatibility goes, I will as always try my very best to make sure that both my mod and the Uncut mod play well together. I am not sure of the status of that in regards to the steam version just yet, but I will keep all of you posted.

So is it possible to merge the Loop Mod and the Uncut mod into 1 map? If so, does it require a specific sequence to extract, or are all the files names different? If they have same file names, do I have to replace a file from Uncut with Loop, or a file from Loop with Uncut, or does it not matter? I just don't wanna break the mod and install it all over again and play over again. So just asking. :P

If you're asking if you can install both mods, then the answer is absolutely. One thing you should keep in mind though is that both loop mod and uncut package their own versions of the A map. You don't really need to worry about this however since Uncut's A map is unchanged aside from a small detail.

In any case, installing Uncut before loop mod is recommended, since installing Loop Mod will overwrite Uncut's A map, and then at that point you'll be able to transition between the two mods seamlessly.

Holy mother of lag. This is cool, but it lags so much...
EDIT: On a Rail uncut lags, not this, lol

Hi .RK. Just played through the final version of the loop mod and I thought you did a great job. However, there are a couple things I think you should do (I'll post this in BM Forums as well).

1. I believe that the lighting needs to be similar to the other lights in this area in the beginning of the map. I.imgur.com
2. Good job centering this light, but the light emission is off to the right. Please center that as well. I.imgur.com
3. In this area, I noticed that these 4 lights have a shadow above them. Could the shadows be moved back down? I.imgur.com

Haha @ 3.

Why would thre be shadows in the lightened area? There is nothing wrong with shadows above those lamps. There just like lamps in real life.

I changed mind about the 3rd one some time later, but couldn't remove it because my comment passed the 5 minute editing limit. That's why I replied to myself saying "Never mind about the 3rd one. It's fine."
