Ages of the Federation is a new total conversion mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. This mod takes place in the Enterprise and Original series eras, focusing on the conflict between the early Federation and Klingon Empire. A resurgent Romulan Star Empire, angry and still licking its wounds after their defeat to Earth and her allies waits in the shadows, ready to take advantage of any of misstep by either the warring powers. The Xindi, new to the galactic stage are also eager to forge their own path.
USS Zander enters orbit of Delta IV, home to the Deltans. The visit is a friendly one, although all does not go smoothly for the Zander - many crew members taking leave on the planet surface becoming distracted and inattentive in the performance of their duties after making direct contact with the locals.
Early, sporadic contact with the Deltans had been made as early as the mid-22nd Century, as passing civilian long-haul freighters occasionally encountered their ships along certain routes. Formal relations were established in the early 23rd Century, and it wasn't long at all before Delta was on the road for full Federation membership.
The Deltans themselves are peaceful and friendly humanoids, identifiable by their bald scalps and nearly hairless skin. Their serene and patient temperments have made them popular mediators, but if there is one thing for which the Deltans are most known, it is their extremely liberal attitude toward sexuality, and a near mesmerising attraction they hold to members of other species, both male and female (and other sexes, where applicable). Though this has led some to compare the Deltans with the Orions, there are a number of differences. The source of the Deltans' allure is not biochemical, but appears to be a side affect of the Deltans' inherent mild telepathy which, through no deliberate effort on the Deltans' part, inspires feelings of love and a desire for emotional intimacy in others, rather than the primitive (though powerful) carnal lust inspired by the Orions' biochemical charms. Though this makes it easy for the Deltans to form relationships and otherwise ingratiate themselves to others, it can lead to those around them, through no fault of their own, essentially falling in love.
