Ages of the Federation is a new total conversion mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. This mod takes place in the Enterprise and Original series eras, focusing on the conflict between the early Federation and Klingon Empire. A resurgent Romulan Star Empire, angry and still licking its wounds after their defeat to Earth and her allies waits in the shadows, ready to take advantage of any of misstep by either the warring powers. The Xindi, new to the galactic stage are also eager to forge their own path.
The Daedalus-class starship Astraios arrives at Algeron answering Starbase 01's distress call. Finding only the starbase's wreckage and that of the Columbia NX-02 and Challenger NX-03, Astraios mounts a desperate search for survivors. None are found.
Chief Medical Officers Log:
After we arrived at Algeron, we found the remains of Starbase 01, and what was left of the Columbia, and Challenger. What could have done this? An entire starbase, and two of one of the more advanced vessels in Stafleet, they must have been surprised somehow by their attackers. We still don't know what happened. But we intend to find out. The Captain has ordered a search for survivors, initial scans show no survivors, so we have sent out search pods to look manually, but so far, after 3 hours of searching, they have found nothing.
Thought i'd have a shot at making a log. I thought a log from someone lower in the chain of command would be interesting.
Would have used NX-04 personally, but equally unnerving. Columbia was a main plot point for Star Trek: Destiny.
There are many accounts of how the Columbia was lost. In Federation: The First 150 Years the Columbia is lost with all hands during a Romulan blitz attack on Algeron. I felt this ending had more emotional weight and gave the Earth-Romulan War arc more impact.
