These don't look good.

They look ******* amazing! The Asia always had a special place in my heart since its introduction way back in Axanar:SO, but this overhaul (especially the detail on the nacelles) just made me experience a steep increase of humidity in my current undergarments.

It's my favourite pre-TOS design.

The fact that I didn't have to correct you or Legion makes me so happy.

From what I remember a number of Asia-class starships are named after continents.

They are according to the fluff I read. Not very many were built because they were basically a test bed for technologies which would make their way onto the Connie. Four were refitted into TMP style where they again were tests for the Connie refit.

Not canon by any means, but I'm going with it.

"It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred Klingons or more could ever do
I bless the phasers down in Africa
Gonna take some time to explore the planets we never had"

I think I missed earlier posts on the subject... is the Asia Class the Federation's dreadnought?

Nope. The Asia is a capital ship and will act as a tank.

The Constitution is the Federation's dreadnought.

Description

On the outskirts of the Inverness system, USS Africa fends off Klingon raiders as Starfleet prepares its defences against the coming Klingon assault.

The Asia-class heavy starship has recently undergone a bit of a cosmetic touch-up, with added detail and glowing warp coils. It's also the latest model to go through Substance Painter. We think you'll agree the results sure look good.
