Abeyance is the final entry into the trilogy of mods featuring the protagonist Jane Doe. Developing Abeyance was a pretty experimental and challenging experience for me as I wanted to confine everything into one single map. As a result play time is rather short but I hope someone finds some joy in this.

Well, since I really enjoyed HTC and AL, I expected a bit more gameplaywise.

I would even rate it lower, but I enjoyed the brushwork and also how you out everything together.
I just expected more gameplay and maybe an harder experience too...

I finished the mod in my 20 min lunchbreak. Without killing any enemie because no need to ( Hard Gamemode )

Well still I enjoyed it and it is a great example of what can be done in HL :)

Plz do another mod but in the same style Autonomy Lost or HTC.

Thanks for making this ! :)

Just had the pleasure of playing Abeyance. It was a short experience and I'm applauding the creator for the visual presentation. All areas are nicely detailed, lighting is great and the usage of models gives the Goldsrc engine a different appeal.

The mod only consists out of 1 map, which is fine by me because (being a mapper myself) it can take a long long time to create a full blown single player MOD by yourself. The recently released Echoes MOD took nearly 5 years! So I'm certainly not going to give the creator any flak because of this.

However, the way the levels are designed and the intended gameplay do not lengthen the experience at all. Every part of the map can be won by simply running straightforward into the next teleporter. It doesn't help that each part more or less has the same ending (black room with jumping puzzle). The only thing holding you back from speedrunning this within 2 minutes, are the cutscenes. At first it was a suprise to end up back in my bed, but I really didn't have to watch my character wake up for a third time.

So, while it all looks great, there isn't really much to actually play in this MOD. Imho, if your mod is only 1 map, then really try to sqeeze as much out of it as possible. Make the fights hard, put in more puzzles, make players circle around and reuse rooms for different purposes. Now it feels like it's just parts being loosly stitched together without a clear goal.

I really love your detailing and lighting, but since it's an old engine, the visuals will never be as important as the actual gameplay and that's what really falls short in Abeyance. Therefor my rating of 6/10.

This was great. I only score in extremes so I choose 10. It was definitely too short, without any exploration gameplay. I played it in Lambda1VR and had a great time experiencing the detailed environments and crazy events. I honestly cheated to beat the final segment, since I was struggling to complete it in VR. It would be nice to play the trilogy as one single mod, since this was so short, but was a really satisfying ending. Definitely not what I was expecting.

Interesting and fun conclusion to the story, I liked all the details in the house of this lady HECU, and all the weird sequences after each teleport, the boot camp could have been a beautiful setting for some horror sequence.

Anyways, it was overall pretty fun to play those three maps, AL is my least favorite, the story was pretty bland besides getting out of Black Mesa. However, the main point of interest in all of those mods is your incredible skill in mapping.

This is the conclusion of the adventure. Great Trilogy! impresive map shot map desing, with some little adaptations from already seen experiences for a change of pace.

I finally got around to playing Abeyance. A couple of fellow modders told me about it as I didn't even know it existed. Not sure how it managed to slip under my radar for so long.

Having now played it however, I must admit that unfortunately this is a significantly low point in the series.

The maps are stunning to look at in places and the attention to detail is fantastic, but the gameplay really isn't enjoyable. Platforming sections in the dark with infinitely spawning enemies? Right at the very end, I very nearly ragequit and had considered using noclip. In the end, I loaded an autosave and stayed off the platforms, shooting at the crystals from a distance.

I hope to see more in this series from Forsete, but I hope the gameplay is given significantly more attention.

I get it that you wanted to put an end (for now at least) to the story of Jane Doe, but it feels kind of rushed. It was globally good, but I did'nt really enjoyed the different phases of the game, especially not the last one, wich was ridiculously difficult (don't know if that was the point ?) Anyway you made a great trilogy which I really enjoyed in its whole but I think you could have pulled a better end to this story.

A short but sweet ending to the Jane Doe Trilogy.
