If anyone has interest I may add some more stuff in 2024 please add in comments ideas. Was thinking of adding a raiding script and maybe redoing the Hungarian units. thanks

Description

A Medieval Mod: 1207 6.2 Standalone offers all the fixes from the 1191 6.2 campaign but with a later start date and a new faction in the Latin Empire. This version is the best version yet. I have only added a few new things but have spent most of my time studying the game's behavior and making it better.

Hi there, thank you for the mod, which I've been following for a while at twcenter. This download includes both 1191 and 1207 campaigns, or is it only for the 1207 bookmark? Cheers!

There are 2 different downloads for each era. The main difference is the start date and I removed Portugal from 1207 in order to add the Latin Empire so if you want to play as Portugal use 1191 download. Otherwise, use 1207 for the Latin empire. Also, Mongols and Papal states are playable in 1207 version. Enjoy!! please give feedback after you try the mod out. thanks

No worries, so check the MEDM 1207 application and make sure it matches your Medieval II Total war/mods/MEDM location. For example mine says this...

D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\MEDM

make sure yours matches how it's set up for your system. So look at another of your mods and use that as an example.

Also, make your main medieval folder II has a kingdoms application. if not just copy the medieval2 application and rename it to kingdoms so now you'll have 2 applications one medieval2 and one kingdoms

Let me know if that works.

Thanks

The only thing I would add is during the large address aware I think you apply it to the application within the mod folder, but if it works the way you described excellent as well.

Hi Fakh,

I don't use steam mate, just old school DVD :) but I didn't use the large adress aware because i didn't know if it affects all my other mods?? the path in my shortcuts are all good so i guess i have to use the large adress aware to get the mod running?
And a big thanks to for all your hard work mate and also a big thanks for WanSaweR for making the install movie

Cheers

actually, it should still start without applying large address aware, it just prevents crashes during the game. If the game doesn't start using the launcher try downloading the bat file

Moddb.com

and run using it.

Hi buddy,
No, unfortunately it still doesn't work, it's strange because the path it refers to is good, it worked perfectly with your previous mods and my other mods also work well, I wouldn't know what else I can do
I am sorry mate

Hi,

mod looks great, but sadly i get a lot of crashes during the end turn a few turns into the campaign. In the system log file the same error usually appears, that seem to be connected to the fort system (see examples below):

mods/MEDM/data/world/maps/campaign/custom/High_Era_Campaign/campaign_script.txt:
give_ancillary psf_gar_Isparta_byzantium psfanc_Isparta 1
err: character not found

or

mods/MEDM/data/world/maps/campaign/custom/High_Era_Campaign/campaign_script.txt:
Character psf_gar_Benghazi_byzantium doesn't exist.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Thx

are you playing with fow on? And did you apply he large address aware?

Yes, I applied large address aware to both kingdoms.exe and medieval.exe before starting, and yes i occasionally used toggle fow to take a look at the map. But i followed your instructions for a new campaign to not use toggle fow and the campaign seems to run more smoothly (i dont play a campaign with fow on). Thx for the answer

apply the large address aware to the actual mods application, the one within the mod folder. Enjoy!

Hi fahk,

The mod has great potential (thank you !) but some feedback:

- During battles there are graphical bugs such as black & white screen that does not allow you to see units/terrain anymore. It seems it often happens when I click on 'zoom'.

- I've also noticed a constant glitch during battles: trees appear & disappear every time you move the camera. This is quite annoying actually and I only have this issue with this mod.

- The atmosphere & colors on the campaign map are way too dark. Everything seemed brown/black.

- Overall, this mod has great potential. But personally, I find the current "moral system" for troops very historically inaccurate & not challenging but annoying. The speed at which an army outside a settlement gets the "weary" or "disobedient" traits, with moral penalties that come with it, is way too fast and based on too few conditions (basically the number of turns outside of a settlement).

This mechanic is aimed to provide more immersion & challenge, but it actually kills the game by making the player unable to play properly . For example: going on crusade becomes impossible since after 6–8 turns, troops will already have a -4/-6 moral penalties and start rebelling no matters what you do, no matters the size of the army, no matters what the general/ family members' traits are... so it is just a pure "free punishing penalty", without ways to work around it (like building a fort to recover, scripts to increase / decrease the moral, caracter trait to help increasing the moral, effects of having agents such priest, etc.). This feature is not challenging but annoying, since the only solution is to not go to a crusade and never go campaining with 1 caracter more 4–6 turns, with is indeed very inacurate. Also, it seems the speed rate at which penalties come is not scaled compared to SS version for example, byg grim. With 4turns =1year, the speed rate is the same than 1turn=1year. However, movement range is really decreased compared to SS :) So a pure unbalanced feature honnestly.

I really hope one day those features will be really developed to become interesting mechanics & challenging, not only pure punishment penalties blocking the player from playing, and killing immersion since AI is not affected, making the player feel like he's playing another game than the one AI is playing.

Cant believe im excited installing this almost 2024.

*edit
Had some trouble starting the game to run. Would crash on launch telling me unspecified error. Running the LAA and creating a kingdoms.exe didnt help any. Changing compatibility modes didnt help either nor verifying game files. The basic game and Kingdoms run fine for me anyways.

What helped was: there is a MEDM.txt file in the main folder of this mod. It is a read only. You have to right click it, go properties and uncheck the read only. Then open the file and change

kingdomsDir=..\..
to
kingdomsDir=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods (or whatever your game directory path is)

Save and launch the game. The file will be changed right back after, but it is working from here on now. At least for me.

Now I cant wait to play the game, looks great btw :D

This mod is so awesome! It might be really cool to make a version in the Tsardoms TW map for the 1207 campaign. It would be really cool to have the Latin Empire in that setting with a more fleshed out Greece, Turkey, ETC.

I have big problem playing as Serbia faction. In my provinces catholic religion is increasing by default no matter what i do (+ there are no catholic priests around). This is not the case for other factions. Is this some bug or what? It makes impossible to play with Serbia. Btw, this mod is sooo good :)

Mod is great. had problems @ first with the unable to find med king file.Got it to work by going to the download file.Opened that file and only downloaded the MEDM file to steam/steam apps/common/mideveal2/ mods than applied the large awareness.Low and behold it worked.I can play but my screen is shrunk.Question is how to widen screen to full size? What do I change in the CFG file ? Windowed false? I'm not quite sure.Anyone have any Ideas? Thank you.
