Your eyes slowly adjust to the gloom but immediately start to sting. Dust and plaster has fallen down from the ceiling, and you taste it in your dry mouth. Slowly the ceiling lights flicker on as the emergency generator starts up, and people begin to pick themselves up... ...Its August 9th. You've just survived the biggest killer of man in history. In 30 minutes, 3.6 billion people have died across the globe. Unknown to you, the population of the UK has quartered, and will continue to drop. You think briefly of your family before being dragged onto your feet by your platoon sergeant... "Come on son, there's work to be done!" Comes the gruff voice from the dark... but not yet... for now we wait... in the dark...
I took this picture on the morning of the 5th of September, on the junction of Puddle land and Orange Street. An RAF Harrier from No4 Squadron had gone into bingo fuel, and landed here.
We we're scrambled from checkpoints and the cordon at Wapping to secure the area, there is always a threat the Union could take one of these, although how the hell they'd fly off with it is another thing.
We asked the pilot why he'd chosen such a silly place to put her down, and he said there were rumours in the RAF that the Union were setting up mines and IEDs on open spaces to try and hamper air mobility. Needless to say the RAF boys were quickly there to tow it away, not before the union gave us a thumping.
Nice parking job that!
lol :-)
nice skin
Thanks mate.
I know its still early days but all of your pictures would look far more spectacular with people in the streets.
Nice model and im liking the backstory blurb with each one
I agree with you in principle. However, the streets above are cordoned. And civilians tend to avoid firefights if they can! remember, that a nuclear missile exploded only 8 miles from here a few weeks previous.
Aha, i get ya.
Surely there would be some life right ?
Also a nice touch maybe would be adding dates in the bottom right of the picture to make it look straight out of the guys camera :D
lol, thats what i tried to do above lol!!! anyway, yeah im sure your right there would be some life lurking about lol.
Oh sh*t i only just saw that!
Very sorry i stand corrected!
I bow down to your amazing powers and cast myself in the flames of embarassment :[
haha, not to worry mate, i reckon you were so stunned by dannycones glorious harrier, that you never saw it :-)
That is exactly why :D
Im currently working on a new project hendrix if your interested in seeing it let me know as i would find it unethical to post in your mod.
Im no advertiser :D
pimp away mate would like to see it, and im sure the community would.
Fair enough, www.moddb.com/mods/states-at-war
American Civil war mod with a few friends.
Working on the source engine as it is what we are all used too.
It is till a learning curve for me and as was mentioned in my " I Admit it" Thread im taking it slow and picking up bits of how the engine works piece by piece
he'll get a contravention.
A what now?
i have one suggestion that might make the city more immersive, you should add a lot of buildings in the 3d skybox, to make it feel like your in part of a large city, instead of just a map, sort of like they did in half life 2 when your first trying to meet alyx
noted, sounds good :-)
very nice work guys. i like where this mod is heading
Nice, one of my all-time fave aircraft as well, in there with the Vulcan, Spitfire, and Concorde
Yeah was a joy to work on the harrier, really enjoyed it.
it looks kinda... fat
no it doesnt...
why? why would a harrier ever land in the middle of the street without an damage? looks soooo out of place
it has VSTOL. its landed because its out of fuel.
u got the camo correct, british harriers are actually that colour, good job!
Ha, well no congestion charge back then, and yeah, we research our models quite a fair ammount pre-design!
